Artwork and caption by @nikkolas_smith on behalf of us all: — Daunte Wright’s son is not much older than mine.... They kinda look alike too... I cannot imagine being taken from my son. I cannot imagine the pain Daunte’s family feels right now. I cannot understand how Black children “accidentally” get murdered by police at a rate exponentially higher than anyone else. I cannot.... #DaunteWright Say His Name. #blackmensmile #blackfathers #saytheirnames https://www.instagram.com/p/CNm8mzrAKJf/?igshid=z5cauk4t3oy5
So now we're erecting monuments to criminals? This is OK? #DaunteWright shot #CalebLivingston in the head at a gas station & left him there to die. Livingston has been in a vegetative state ever since. Leaving Livingston behind to bleed out without calling EMS shows his sociopathy & total lack of empathy for someone who was supposed to be a friend. He beat & pistol whipped a woman trying to steal her $800 rent money she had in her bra. It was documented that whenever he was arrested, he would always flee. He didnt have the responsibility to show up for court & when he was being arrested for a failure to appear warrant, had the shit for brains idea to escape. Criminals like this don't deserve monuments except in HELL. This guy was the poster boy for shitty parenting. JUDGE JOE BROWN and DR. CHEYENNE BRYANT talk the DAUNTE WRIGHT AFTER MATH, MEDIA SCHEMATICS and the PSYCHOLOGY THEREOF
A Minnesota judge on Friday sentenced former police officer #KimPotter to two years for fatally shooting #DaunteWright 10 months ago. Hennepin County Judge Regina Chu handed down the “significant downward” punishment for the former Brooklyn Center police officer after emotional courtroom statements from the victim's loved ones and the defendant herself. Chu ordered Potter to spend two-thirds of her sentence behind bars and one-third of it on supervised release. She's already served 58 days behind bars, which will go to her credit. Chu said Potter deserved a lesser sentence than the 86-month sentence sought by prosecutors because the officer was trying to use her Taser and not her gun. “I find the facts and circumstances here justify a downward departure from the guidelines,” said Chu, adding that said she understood her ruling would be unpopular "This is one of the saddest cases that I’ve had in my 20 years on the bench," Chu said. Wright's mother asked a judge to send her son's killer to prison, telling a convicted former police officer that she'll "never be able to forgive you for what you’ve stolen from us." "Daunte Wright is my son, my baby boy and I say ‘is’ and not ‘was’ because he will always be my son and I’m proud to say that," the victim's mother, Katie Wright, told the court ahead of sentencing. “Daute’s smile was genuine and big, just like his dreams. You took them. You took his future.” #unheardvoicesmag (at Hennepin County, Minnesota) https://www.instagram.com/p/CaIIwQTFVXA/?utm_medium=tumblr

#REPOST @adr1600 with @get__repost__app Posted @withregram • @thegrio Jurors on Thursday convicted a suburban #Minneapolis police officer of two manslaughter charges in the killing of #DaunteWright, a Black motorist she shot during a traffic stop after she said she confused her gun for her Taser. The mostly white jury deliberated for about four days before finding former #BrooklynCenter officer #KimPotter GUILTY of first-degree and second-degree manslaughter. Potter, 49, faces about seven years in prison on the most serious count under the state’s sentencing guidelines, but prosecutors said they would seek a longer term. Potter, who testified that she “didn’t want to hurt anybody,” looked down without showing any visible reaction when the verdicts were read. This photo is more than a memory. It's a memorial to a father, son, and brother whose child won't have a memory of... #dauntewright The verdict does not make me feel any better. How can there be justice when a life was taken and the killer makes a poor excuse? It wasn't a teaser Kim. And you should have known better... https://www.instagram.com/p/CX13s3qJBbi/?utm_medium=tumblr
