Like True Believers and Crushing Compasses, which I wrote about a couple of months ago, this is a big one because of a best friend. I'm not so sure as to why this time - perhaps because, since he set this as his morning alarm, he tells me he's woken up every day as the chillest of chill guys, and I've since done the same. Anyway, this song gives me a strong sense of Dave, my former bandmate and current best friend.
This guy's an immensely talented guitar player whose inspiration can be traced through everything he listens to. It works the other way, as well; I'll hear him play a lick, hit a chord or enthusiastically smack out a drum beat on his legs while I drive him to band practice and I'll know which of his influences he's smelting together to come up with the stuff. Our understanding perhaps hits its high point when we yelp AGBPOL lyrics at each other.
I don't want to bore you anonymous followers with how awesome he is as a person but rest assured, he is one of the funniest, smartest, friendliest people I've ever met and we'll be together forever and ever. Here he is, looking like a fucking badass:
