Galactic Celebrate New Album on Saturday Night at Brooklyn Steel

Ahead of Mardi Gras season, instrumental-groove party-starters Galactic (above, performing “Right On” with Erica Falls in studio for WFUV FM) are back in NYC this weekend, putting their own New Orleans spin on funk, jazz and R&B. A studio album arrives every few years, often with a different singer, the most recent, Into the Deep (stream it here), came out in 2015. American Songwriter said the band was “blissfully unconcerned that every track is different enough to almost obscure their own identity as they continue to create music that’s fun, superbly crafted and wildly eclectic.” But a brand-new LP, Already Ready Already, comes out tomorrow. And Galactic, with Crescent City singer-songwriter Erica Falls, celebrate its arrival at Brooklyn Steel on Saturday night. Another genre-spanning funk outfit making shake-it-don’t-break-it music, the Motet, out of Boulder, Colo., open the show.
