mind me asking what the whole blue thing was? I didn't see any of that.

So. Warren started being terrorised by some unknown enemy called “Blue” who was clearly trying to ruin his life. He was going a bit mad for a minute trying to figure out who it was (he even accused his own mother and Freddie Roscoe xD). It was thought for a moment that Rex was “Blue” because he seemed to be linked to all of it, then we’re led to believe he’s working for “Blue” but then it gets revealed that he had actually been trying to bring the real “Blue” out of hiding.

We then find out that Dave is “Blue.” He retired from the crime world back in 2014 after he got into a car chase. He did not know that the person in the car he was chasing was a social worker who had his newborn granddaughter in the car. They both died in the crash. Then Donny pops up, having been investigating “Blue” and Dave shoots at him, but the bullet instead hit Donny’s other son, Andre (he survived, thankfully). So, that was when both Dave and Donny retired.

Fast forward like ten years — Dave has been out of the world up until Lizzie (his step-daughter and the mother of the grandchild he accidentally killed) takes a dodgy pill supplied by Warren. She dies on Dave’s wedding day, Dave is distraught, then he swears vengeance on Warren and seeks to ruin his life with Rex’s help. I don’t remember why, but he was also the one who had Rex plant the bomb in James’ car. Dave ultimately reveals himself to Warren, they fight in the woods, Warren gets away, Dave gets shot, then Robbie Roscoe appears and kills Dave for Hannah Ashworth, who Rex had been forcing into prostitution (not that that had anything to do with Dave, he actually made Rex stop, but I don’t know, Dave’s dead).

Valid xD My sister called him Cameron the entire time we were watching it with Dave still in it (it’s also how we figured it out Dave was Blue — we chose him as our wild card guess initially, but then they said that Blue was named for his “piercing blue eyes” and my sister said she remembered being terrified of Cameron’s crazy blue eyes, so it had to be Dave, and lo and behold xD)

Hollyoaks IG account sharing a theory on their story that Dave could come — don’t do me like this, I would kill for him to return.

(They did ask for fan theories and are just sharing all of them as far as I’m aware, including one about Jonah being an undercover cop and a possible love triangle between Dee Dee, Maddox, and Trina, so I’m mostly joking because I know there’s probably 0 chance of Dave ever returning)

I was thinking about how with the forced sex work, how Dodger would react if Dave was still alive when Dodger came back to the village. He only missed him by a few months

Yesss, see, the angst potential for the current timeline definitely crossed my mind as well. As you said, he only just missed him - and we know he got close to Maxine again because of Dave's connections to the trafficking gang, so if the forced sex work had happened in this universe, that would have really fucked with his head to have it all raked back up through the investigation and the undercover work. Even finding out Dave was Maxine's dad would have been a lot to process given he would have had no idea when he and Maxine were initially together, and the fact that his half-sister would be the granddaughter of the man who forced him into sex work? There's so many connections and layers. It would be so angsty for him to have come back to the village when Dave was still alive and have to face him - especially if it was after Dave had gone back to being Blue, but also if it was before that, when Dave was still trying to be regular family man. He wouldn't want Dodger around as a reminder of his past, and the risk of him telling someone - it would be even worse for Dave because Dodger not only has a connection to Maxine, but if Ethan and Sienna were still together, there's that connection, too 👀

I was thinking again about how Donny didn’t retire from the force until 2014 and was still trying to get closer “Blue” aka Dave, meanwhile in the village, Dodger was getting closer to Maxine, Dave’s daughter. Just a fun little coincidence thing.
