Awesome fight! Erceg comes in on short notice and hands David Dvorak his 3rd straight L. Erceg got on to an early lead by taking the center and attacking the lead leg of Dvorak. Dvorak was also attacking it back but Erceg had the benefit of being the aggressor and was actually landing well early with the left hook. Dvorak had a much stronger start to the second as he was feinting Erceg off, making Erceg disengage and creating distance/resets. Then Erceg had to try extra hard to close distance and would run himself into Dvorak’s strikes. Unfortunately for Dvorak, Erceg eventually found his way back onto the front foot before the round was over. Found the rhythm on the jab and then threw a follow up 2 on the off beat. Completely surprised Dvorak as he was circling left and rocked him. Erceg got extra aggressive and followed up by landing a nasty head kick that really hurt Dvorak but also sent Erceg to the ground. Erceg threatened the guillotine but it Dvorak survived. Third was competitive but Erceg seemed to have found his ability to come forward again and not allow Dvorak to feint him off the front foot. Landed nicely with the jab and kicks, especially up the middle.
Again, great win for Erceg. I think the #10 ranking is a tad overblown because FLW has like 20 fighters because the UFC cut a bunch of really good flyweights (Gooch, DJ, Sergio, Brooks, Torres, Moraga, etc) but ranked is ranked and he beat the #10 guy. I’d like to see him against Schnell next.
