The last time I saw “classic” bullet time, it was used on the E! Network’s Golden Globes red-carpet show.
Humor Blends With Tragedy In The Farcical 'Death of Stalin'
Veep creator Armando Iannucci's new film satirizes the days in 1953 when the Soviet Union lost its totalitarian leader and members of his inner circle argued, plotted and killed while selecting a successor.
Published at a mainstream outlet, this review illustrates how NOT to discuss a film with a female lead.
Here’s a tip for male film critics: When reviewing a film with a female protagonist, don’t focus on the hotness of the actress.
David Edelstein is a respected critic at Vulture, but his response to Wonder Woman is embarrassingly sexist. His review is peppered with comments about Gal Gadot’s attractiveness, describing her as a “superbabe” in the first paragraph, and noting this impact of hiring a female director:
“With a female director, Patty Jenkins, at the helm, Diana isn’t even photographed to elicit slobbers. Slobbering, S&M-oriented American patriots will be even more put out, given that WW is no longer dressed in red, white, and blue. I didn’t miss Lynda Carter’s buxom, apple-cheeked pinup, though.”
He can’t stop commenting on Gal Gadot’s appearance, remarking that “Israeli women are a breed unto themselves.” It’s a textbook example of what not to do when reviewing a female-led movie.

'The Great Wall' Stands As A Monument To Absurd CGI Clutter
“If you don’t on some level love The Great Wall, I feel bad for you. Yes, it’s terrible, but lavishly, generously, terrible. Even at its worst it isn’t painful to watch. Unless you’re a studio accountant. That might be scary.”
