Rare picture of David Madson.
i thought i’d be more hardened to it by now, especially after watching it a million times over, but i still cannot watch a single ep of Assassination of Gianni Versace without bursting into ugly tears.
Cody did us so proud with David. rewatching House By The Lake has absolutely broken me, David had a chance to escape but he couldn’t bring himself to do it and it’s utterly heartbreaking.
the ‘fans’ in this fandom that criticise his acting and the ahs stans that claim he’s always playing himself... have you even seen Gianni Versace? are you an actual fucking stone incapable of human emotions? how can you watch David coming out to his father, then pleading Andrew for his life and still consider this man’s talent anything other than phenomenal?
despite how morbid it sounds, Gianni Versace is my comfort show and i watch this every time i need reminding of how small and insignificant my problems are compared to other people’s.
David Madson is one of Cody’s best performances hands down and i will defend that until i die.
Today is David Madson's birthday.
As a beloved, hardworking, dedicated, and successful architect, David Madson (October 16, 1963 - May 2, 1997) is still gravely mourned even over 20 years after his brutal and unwarranted murder. He lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was well known by his friends, colleagues, and family for leading a very lavish lifestyle. He enjoyed going out to high-end restaurants and dance clubs while spending a night out on the town.
On the 20th anniversary of Madson’s death, a colleague and friend of his, Julie Hovland, did an interview with CBS News. She had this to say about him: “It was hard at the office to bring closure…and we wanted [his parents] to know how much their son was loved by all of us.” She also went on to say that “the world lost such an amazing person that had so much potential” and that she “always think[s] about how ambitious he was and how kind he was.”
The fact that David Madson is still so fondly remembered by the people who knew him after his tragic and untimely death is a true testament to his kindhearted character. He’s obviously still very deeply missed by his loved ones today.
It would have been his 57th birthday.
