Hmmmm. Well this is a hot mess. I realise I say that a lot about the films I choose to inflict on myself but trust me it's especially #Apt here. I... Just don't know what to make of this. I tagged it horror but really that isn't strictly accurate at least not for the first #Hour of this film. Instead it's a vaguely trashy study of an intellectually disabled man with the mind of an infant and the overbearing #Mother and sisters who care for him. Which yeah that sounds awful I get it but the thing is this really doesn't go as tacky or as nasty as #I expected. It is tasteless in places yes. It is exploitation film of a kind. But it's also surprisingly subtle in places and has a #Lightness of touch and sincerity that you wouldn't necessarily associate with that plot description. And then it all has this bizarre tonal #Shift in the last 10 minutes so that you end up questioning everything and just... What was this film. And like. Director Ted Post. He made #Real mainstream films. He worked with Clint Eastwood. Ruth Roman was in Strangers on a Train for gods sake. This isn't pure grindhouse slop #It's made with some quality and care; but that's even more confusing because it SHOULD be grindhouse slop because the very concept is an #Insensitive and offensive idea which means an actor spends this whole film acting like a baby and I want to scream. What is this?? Idek
