Noah and Azarie are expected to have lives that their parents will approve of, but each of them has other dreams. Noah’s parents expect him to get a practical degree and have a practical career, but he wants to use his sewing skills and go into costume design. Azarie loves comic books and wishes that she could become an actress, but being a politician’s daughter means hiding her true interests and only being seen with the “right” kind of people.
When Noah and Azarie meet, it sets off a spark in each of them to finally pursue the dreams that they’ve been hiding. But pursuing those dreams will mean upsetting their friends and their parents, and it will also mean changing the future plans that have been laid out for them. The battle between what they want to do and what they SHOULD do causes more and more tension in their lives. And even their growing friendship might not be strong enough to overcome it.
