Writer's Month 2022, Day 2: "Chance"
Fandom: My Brother is a Superhero Status/Word count: Complete-ish? I might give it another once-over and post it on AO3/FF.net later. 467 words. Summary: Luke rambles about destiny versus random chance, and makes several comic book references. Author's notes: On an unrelated note, I started the third book today and...are these set in the U.K.? I think I got Americanized editions of the first two books, but now they're suddenly British. Luke said "bloke" and I don't know how to handle that.
You know, I'm mostly okay with Zack being Star Guy now. But sometimes I still wonder...why him instead of me?
I mean, I know why. I was in the bathroom when Zorbon the Decider showed up. But was that really Zorbon's plan? Just show up at the interdimensional wormhole and give the world-saving superpowers to the first person he saw?
You see a lot of "Chosen Ones" in comics and movies and stuff. The weird thing is, most times, they're not really "chosen" because no one does the choosing. There might be a prophecy or a special birthmark or something, but that just tells you that you already are Chosen. But if there is a Chooser, he's supposed to choose you for a reason. Billy Batson wasn't just lucky enough to get on the right train; Shazam had to send his dad's ghost out to go and find him.
You don't choose your Chosen One by random chance. How would you know that they're any good?
Maze of Doom vs Revolution of the Daleks
It’s like they like to watch us suffer.
Two pieces of fanart I made then mushed into a gif for maximum heartache. The first is a scene from Maze of Doom and the second is 13 in prison, missing Yaz and those moments they had together.
Before he could wonder any more about it, on the other side of the room the curtain of a dressing cubicle swept back and the Doctor and Yaz emerged in each other’s arms. It took Ryan a moment to realise that they were dancing. The Doctor was leading. She was wearing a jumpsuit in a striking rust colour.
'Nice togs,' said Ryan admiringly.
'I love getting dressed up for a mission,' the Doctor said. 'It's by one of my favourite Zygon designers. No fiddly buttons but the suckers do leave a mark.'
Yaz was in a long silver dress with a pattern like ripples on a moonlit pond.
'Ready?' asked the Doctor.
'Dip me,' replied Yaz.
The dancers came out of a turn, the Doctor twirled Yaz, then pulled her close, wrapped one hand firmly around her waist, cradles her neck with the other and gently lowered her to the floor as Yaz hugged the Doctor's shoulder.
There was a long silence as they stayed like that for several seconds.
'We should probably go now,' said Yaz.
'Yeah,' agreed the Doctor.

The (Man)dip
A scene from Doctor Who: The Maze of Doom by David Solomons.
It’s my first real go at Illustrator and Doctor Who fanart (unless you count fanvids :) I posted it and tagged Mandip and David and am super nervous! I hope they like it. I hope YOU like it ^.^
If you’re confused about the backdrop, they’re in the TARDIS wardrobe. They were just changing behind a curtain and then popped out twirling and stuff. There was nothing heterosexual about it-- or that long look they gave when the Doctor dipped Yaz.
I am very excited for the special and for series 13!
