My recent research has opened up a wealth of music and performers, mostly people I had hitherto ignored or written off. Matiegka is wonderful music for the intermediate student and Starobin is musically insightful and sadly, still ahead of his time.
The final piece of the Sunday Song Set puzzle, "Putting It Together" performed by classical guitarist David Starobin and bariton Patrick Mason, from Starobin's album New Music with Guitar.
David Starobin (guitar) and Patrick Mason (baritone): “Lesson #8” from the Sunday Song Set (track 3/4).
David Starobin (guitar) and Patrick Mason (baritone): "Finishing the Hat" from the Sunday Song Set (track 2/4).
David Starobin is a famous classical guitarist. He's also the brother of orchestrator Michael Starobin. In 1984, when Michael orchestrated Sunday in the Park with George, he also arranged four songs from the show for guitar and baritone, which David recorded as the Sunday Song Set on his album New Music with Guitar. This is the first of the four tracks, "Color and Light," with baritone Patrick Mason.
