He said you’re jealous of the fact that we’re caught in a rad bromance!
Me? Jealous? Pfft, why would I be jealous? It’s totally your choice if you want to replace me with a cheap imitation with spiky hair!

❝ Listen, my job is to make sure everyone else is okay. ❞
“Don’t be mad at him,” Shireen said softly, though it was hard to resist the urge to crack a smile as Rickon did his very best impersonation of his older brother. She had gotten the idea that as the baby of the family, Rickon quite admired his older siblings -- whether he said so with his words or not, the fact that he spoke of them as frequently as he did was indication enough. The older he got, though, the more it seemed Robb didn’t have the time for him, chasing down Team Rocket and seeking justice at every turn rather than aiding his brother on his own Pokemon journey. “You know he cares whether or not you’re okay, too,” she reminded her friend, squeezing his wrist. “And he can’t know you want to spend more time with him if you don’t tell him.” She brightened as an idea struck her, saying, “What if we traveled with him for a bid? Oh, I’ve always secretly wanted to, I think Patches would love getting a chance to ride on Greywind’s back, Shaggy’s too wild. And who knows, maybe if you learn a few tricks -- and some discipline -- from him, chasing down Team Rocket together could be your next grand adventure.”

❝ Who do I have to fucking fight? ❞
Becca hadn’t meant for her best friend to find her like this. She’d just wandered off a little ways, saying she was going to let her Bellossom stretch and then she’d be back before Kelsey was even done setting up their tent (a task they’d quickly both realized Becca only hindered rather than helped). But she’d settled down on a rock to read a bit while her Pokemon grazed, and when she’d looked up again, there had been a Beedrill in her face, large and menacing and terrifying. She hadn’t even thought, hadn’t even considered the fact that she was a capable Pokemon trainer whose Pokemon was already out and ready to protect her -- she’d tried to whack it with her book, and in its anger it had shredded her favorite copy of Pride and Prejudice to pieces. “Nobody, you don’t have to fight anybody,” she said through watery eyes and a runny nose; she knew that crying was overreacting, but she’d never been as brave as her best friend, and the fear and disappointment mingled together as she stopped to pick up the shredded remains of her book. “That Beedrill must really hate Mr. Darcy, huh?” she asked lamely as Kelsey knelt to join her, putting a hand on her back and making Becca feel better already just by being there.

❝ Trust me, I’m a professional. ❞
“Um, that seems very fake, have you seen your clothes?” Blair asked, once she’d recovered from nearly choking on the coffee she’d been sipping anxiously ever since Princess’s groomer had cancelled. She had no idea how she was supposed to get the Delcatty’s toenails clipped and her coat properly washed before the contest later this afternoon now, and she certainly couldn’t do it herself, not when she had to look absolutely beautiful before the contest’s start, too. “I know you’re like, all about saving money by washing your own Pokemon and stuff, but Princess needs to look perfect. There’s more to getting ready for a contest than just like, making sure your Pokemon doesn’t smell bad, you have to actually like, give her a manicure when you clip her and make sure her fur is shiny and like -- ugh, I can’t believe I’m desperate enough to let you take care of my Pokemon for me, but fine,” Blair grumbled as she passed over the Pokeball to Justin, wishing Isaac was here to massage the tension out of her shoulders as she watched her annoying and unwanted travel companion go to work.

❝ Gabe is the literal bane of my existence. ❞
“Oh, yes, we live in a world where Donald Trump is president, and where you almost got fired for holding Chip’s hand because your handler doesn’t want gay incest chipmunks in the parks, but yes, Gabe is the problem,” Camille grumbled, folding her arms over her chest. She felt like she’d been getting cross with David more and more often the more time he spent with his partner, which was stupid, right? She’d been spending more time with Gabe because she missed David, even when they were home together it felt like his thoughts were elsewhere or like maybe she was losing him... and she didn’t like that feeling one bit. Maybe it was jealousy; maybe Kennedy and Jezzi had been right all this time, but she didn’t want to think about that right now. Right now she wanted to just go hide in her room alone before she started a fight, although before she could go, she snapped, “I’ve always liked you a thousand times more than I could ever like Gabe, you big idiot. I don’t know why you let him bother you so much,” before slamming her door behind her for dramatic effect.

David: I don’t have pictures! But he’s only ever up at night and I keep hearing these weird like homing noises coming from his apartment.
David: Kennedy, really? I thought her apartment was just haunted.
Neil: Up at night is vampires, not aliens! The homing noises are more promising, though - dammit, why are Extendable Ears only in Harry Potter?
Neil: Maybe she walked by and heard the same stuff as you did? Everyone knows I love aliens, or that I could help her figure out if they are or not.
( ✉ → sms ) i think my neighbor is an alien.
[text]: BRO! You live in the same building as Kennedy, and she said the same thing, it MUST be true.[text]: Send me pics! Give me deets! I’m dying here, I gotta know more!
