Small Beginnings || Vickers & David
It was business as usual, even despite being such a vast distance away from Earth, Miss Vickers carried herself with a complete sense of professionalism; which came naturally considering she was highly invested within the company and was the main representative of Weyland Corporation. Albeit she did not receive a mention in her ‘fathers’ little speech, she felt the need to clarify and assert her authority with the Doctors who were leading the expedition. Neither Shaw nor Holloway looked too pleased with her orders to refrain from making direct contact with their fabled “Engineers”, but it was nothing that concerned her enough to dwell on it.
The two year journey was a waste of time, in her eyes, and yet here they were. An exasperated sigh slipped passed her lips after the Doctors had left her quarters; leaving only her and David. Her gaze settled on him from across the room, her expression cold and blank; though her eyes held a fiery glint as they narrowed towards him. Vickers took a hefty swig of her drink, thoroughly enjoying the burn as it went down. In the silence that enveloped the room, she replayed her father’s words in her head. “He is the closest thing to a son I will ever have.”
Bitter resentment was all she felt towards the synthetic, and she made it known, but even despite how unpleasant she could be towards him, he always responded with curt politeness and a sickly sweet smile.
The contents of her drink were diminished in no time, and with all she had to deal with over the course of their stay, she Needed a little something to take the edge off. “Another, David.” She commanded him with a simple set of words; treating the remarkable being as if he were nothing but her butler.
Vickers reclined further into her immaculate, white chair, one long leg crossing over the other as she swiveled to the side and glanced at the background behind her; the field of flowing wheat was oddly peaceful to look at, which she did while waiting for the other in the room to do as he was told.
