This 650-hp 1977 BMW 320 Turbo hunted Porsche 935s "You think it looks insane on the outside, you should have a look at the engine. This 1977 320 Turbo used a massively turbocharged 2.0-liter Formula 2 M12 powerplant. BMW figured these things to be putting out 650 hp, pretty outrageous for a four-cylinder, even today. These engines spurred on the development of BMW's turbocharged F1 cars of the 1980s, and the technological arms race that ensued is legendary. Campaigned by Team McLaren in the IMSA Camel GT Series, driver David Hobbs took the 320 Turbo to seven race wins in 1977 and 1978, including victories at Laguna Seca and Mid-Ohio, presenting a serious challenge to the Porsche 935s that would go on to dominate the series."
