Interviewing British artist David Walker in 2014, The Art Elephant (TAE) began by defending their statement that he was one of their favorite artists in the world: "When you face a wall covered with David Walker’s art, you don’t quite know where to look, you simply stand in amazement. His vibrant color palettes and freehand spray paint style is brilliant up close and becomes even more beautiful and cohesive after taking a step back to appreciate the full scope of his talent." Painted from his own photos Walker's portraits of women, whether strong or fragile, are completed entirely freehand without stencils or brushes. To give his work the kind of detail that stands up to examination Walker instead has developed a signature multi-layered style using countless lines, clashing colors, translucent drips, and decaying letterforms. This work on NW 26th St. in Wynwood, Miami, is a good example of the resulting fusion of photo realism, abstraction, and graffiti. @artofdavidwalker @wynwoodmurals @scenesfromthesidewalk
