New Home Owners Journal #22: Stone-Polymer Composite 😊 🏡 Is the name of the new floors we installed in our home! Ripped out the tile and carpet that we had to install from our builder (in order to close on the home) and now in with the new. I wish there was a way to just not waste material like that (referring to the delays due to shortage of material and just plain waste in general). New Home Owners Journal #21: New Floors! 😊 🏡 So we didn’t move in until we got our floors re-done. As you can see, we had tile and carpet built in from our builder. If we wanted the SAME EXACT floor that we eventually chose for our house right now, we would’ve had to pay a whopping $40,000 total more. We did it for a fraction of that price with people that work with the builder =) Enjoy the “take out” and demolition process of the new home! New Home Owners Journal #17: Staircase done! I know I haven’t updated this journal in a while! But one thing we couldn’t wait to see was our staircase. This baby had no hand rails for the longest time haha and while this was getting set up, we also got started with getting our security system setup on the same day because we CLOSE soon! The staircase of ours has a “Monarch” handrail stain color with a brush nickel finish. Our staircase looks silly without the actual flooring haha but if anyone is wondering, the GREEN stain on the wooden panels on the staircase is to kill any termites that try to eat it. New Home Owners Journal #8: DRIVEWAY FRAMED! Do you see what I see?!? Our Driveway is finally framed! I don’t know why it’s such an exciting thing to see LOL. I’m excited to imagine hosting gatherings for our friends and family and seeing the driveway full. I’m excited to imagine the driveway empty so I can work out on it. I’m excited to imagine just our freaking driveway! Lollll As you can see, they’ve finished putting the shingles onto our house, so we officially have a roof on our home! Thank goodness nothing horrible has happened before the roof was installed. They put this on pretty fast so no rain came onto the home. On the inside, as you can see - we’ve been writing stuff onto the studs LOL. VV’s putting Taylor Swift song lyrics all over the house. Meanwhile, I’m just writing quotes that I live by around the house lolllll. I’m surprised she hadn’t put Monsta X quotes all over the house cause she’s super into this Kpop group now. She probably hasn’t because it might be hard writing in Korean LOL. Lastly, the last picture shows progress of the other homes at the other end of the street as well! You can see there’s one house that’s coming up pretty quickly (they’re about to start their roofing!). There are also other lots that are beginning to build as well (take note of the dirt poured areas). Neighbors - you’re welcome, I’m documenting your progress as well! New Home Owners Journal #6: Insulation station! We’re out here while they’re installing the insulation foam boards onto our home. Walking inside the home with the insulation foam boards up gave us a glimpse of how the rooms will look and feel whenever the actual dry walls are up. To our surprise, the rooms look and feel a little bigger now with these foam boards up and we’re not just “imagining” the rooms without walls haha. During this process they were still installing studs on the inside of the home. Today was the first day we saw the staircase put together! Super exciting as we finally are able to walk up to the second story and take a peek into each of the upstairs bedrooms. So tempting right now to plan where our guest room, game room, and nursery room will be placed haha! Lastly, if you take a look at the aerial view, it seems as if the other houses on the street are starting to come up as well! You can see all of the other houses are each at a different phase that our house has already been through! ⁃ Dirt, Foundation, Cement Pour, Lumber Framing. New Home Owners Journal #5: The framing for our 2nd floor is up! The structure is coming together! We’re the first in our street to get our house up and I can’t wait to see how many more neighbors we meet and see along the way. Walking through the entire home with the lumber put up allowed us to get a feel for each room and how we’re going to use each space. Not going to lie - with no walls up, no furniture - the space feels small still, but this was already warned to us by our builders. At this point we’re impatient. Let’s get the walls up already! Haha. We absolutely LOVE how spacious our patio is. We can foresee us using this space a lot once the house is completely done. Towards the end of the cluster of pictures you can see me and @agent.fitzy racing down the street haha. Obviously I lost… What’s amazing about this street is that I can foresee it being completely safe for running around, shootin some hoops at the cul de sac, water gunning, etc. Ahhh the visions.
