Late February Coffee Shop { @xdavina-selwyn }
Minerva pulled the hot coffee mug closer to the edge of the table, wrapping her long and slender hands around the base of the mug to warm her fingers a little more. Normally the cold didn’t really bother her--after all, she was from the coast of Scotland, and it was never really that warm there--but ever since the terrible blizzard that had surrounded her kidnapping, Minerva always felt cold. Cold to the bone, as if she would never be warm again. It was the only real indication that her time spent in the basement of the Lestrange manor was still haunting her memories.
In Minerva fashion, she pushed these thoughts away and took a deep breath, trying to prepare herself for the purpose of her appearance in this coffee shop that was off the beaten path in Hogsmeade--to see Davina Selwyn. Minerva was a strict teacher, but she deeply cared about her students, and those that were fortunate enough to see the softer side of her were won over to the woman underneath very quickly. Davina was no different. The two had become close during Davina’s time at Hogwarts--once Davina had confided to Minerva--in a moment of weakness, maybe--that she had reservations about her parents’ way of thinking, she had gained a true confidant and mentor in Minerva.
That was why she was here in this little-known coffee shop in Hogsmeade, waiting for Davina. Though her former student had left Hogwarts a number of years ago, they still got together quite regularly to catch up. Minerva had become quite fond of the young girl, and she also hoped that her influence would help Davina to continue on the path she had begun to follow--a path that would lead her away from the ridiculous ideals of her parents. Hearing a voice, Minerva looked up from her coffee mug, all thoughts of cold bones or dark manors banished. “Davina! What a pleasure to see you!” Standing up, she grabbed her former student in a hug before sitting back down.
