I’ve watched and read a lot of interviews over the years with him and gleamed different facts (I have a freakishly good memory when it comes to facts), and also because people (like myself) enjoy when he’s on screen, I thought that this list of facts about the guy might be of interest, even if you know most or all of them!
I feel like this post may be appreciated or people will think it’s weird etc. but I just thought I’d put these facts down somewhere, ones that keep flying around my head and here seemed as good a place as any. I don’t mean anything by it.
His mother is originally from the Bronx.
His father grew up in the States, having moved from Canada when his father was three, in 1949.
His parents moved to Canada in 1972.
Has an older sister.
His paternal family are from Newfoundland.
His paternal grandmother’s maiden name was Carter. Her first name was Stella.
His paternal grandfather and his paternal uncle called Peter, were both fans of comedian Lenny Bruce and introduced him to his comedy.
His maternal grandfather had an office in Brooklyn (which was not far from Steiner Studios, used for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).
When he told his mother that he wanted to be an actor, he only learned later, that she tried very hard not to laugh in his face.
In high school, for a piece of work on where you want to see yourself in the future, he wrote that he would be playing Lenny Bruce in an adaption of his life.
After drama school, he moved to Brooklyn and lived with his grandmother for a while.
He’s lived in New York since 2001.
Is married. His wife’s name is Andrea.
A self described shy person.
Is left-handed.
Likes silent films.
He cycles as much as possible, including to the set of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Has a dog named Homer (photos below).
Into fashion. He grew up watching fashion related tv shows with his sister.
His sister used to dress him up a lot.
