Would you have preferred the original ladybug and cat noir. Where they are gritt teenagers and, Felix and Ladybug respectfully. You see the actions screens with the explosions and hear our boy say cuss words like...hell...
honestly? yes, but because i feel like it’d be able to get in to the parts of the show many people complain about, things you can’t just find ways to put into a kid’s show.
thomas astruc created ml with a darker image in mind both the plot and how our beloved characters were to be, and i for one believe it would’ve paid off. i also believe they were forced to change the audience they wanted to have because they saw bigger revenue from kids merchandise (toys, clothes, backpacks etc etc) but that’s just my theory.
although, it’s not like the show changed entirely. ml is softened up, yes, but many of the villains in the pv are in the show, and there’s certainly things that kept the appeal they had in mind for older audiences (hence why for me, i don’t find it so surprising ml has so many older fans! i think it makes perfect sense seeing as the original plans for the show were to have older fans!!)
i mean... the way they write out nathalie and gabriel’s interactions makes me swoon at how complex it is but that’s another topic for another day
at the end of the day, i’m fine either way. dark ml or not, it’s still the one show you’ll catch me writing 100k+ words for free of charge.
