WE THE NORTH WEEK 2k21 - DAY 002
↬ pain = pain ↫
LOOK i know they're not the embodiment of this photo up there, but what does that really matter? maybe i went into the archives of pari's phone or something and pulled this out, from a time when they were happily married? you don't know (she'd also deny the fact that any such photos would exist anywhere in her life so don't ask her about them) so for this prompt i took it a bit literally and i thought it was a bit funny bc pari and linc if you did not know, their ship name is #pain. and that is very accurate as well. so i'm not just being funny with this prompt. i still can't believe i got tricked into a female character but i'm also glad bc i love her and i love this ship. even tho they hurt me. @ellectricmuse muse and i recently did a thread from the past with these two and it hurt so much. i love what we created with the pair of them, their dynamic is a very real one. a divorced couple who do not get along with one another but are trying (most of the time) for the kids. they'd sooner murder one another than be nice to each other. their entire history is encased in pain. from the kouri parents reaction to pari wanting to marry linc, to his divorcing her, the way she got back at him and the dark bit of time for linc after the divorce. and now they're at one another's throats all the time. and idk who would be the successful one if they murdered the other. sure linc's a criminal and all but she's a woman scorned and you know how that saying goes. she's so frustrated and mad at linc and i'm p sure part of that has to do with what she will realize if she stops being mad at him. but it goes beyond that for me, bc i put pari in the kouri family (thanks for letting me hales) and then i realized the mistake bc it has brought me a lot of emotions. there are happy moments between them because the divorce happened several years ago. but there's so much pain packed into the relationship with hakim/pari/evy that you don't even know. there's abandonment there, there is misunderstanding. there are things that evy and hakim don't fully know. there's the pain of choosing love over family only to realize that it wasn't the right choice. so yes, i made a cute manip for them but i had to mask the #pain in some sort of pleasantness. ✌️ until day 003

Day 003: Inseparable.
Featuring Steve Harrington, Dustin Henderson, and Eddie Munson.
Max Mayfield and Lucas Sinclair mentioned.
1,178 words and canon divergence lmao.
After talking to Lucas in Max's hospital room, Steve heads to Eddie Munson's room. Steve looks at the cop posted at the door, and swallows. He walks up to the doorway, reaching for the door handle. Maybe I should just leave. Steve considers this, but the cop sees him eyeing the doorway. “What are you doing here? You can't go inside there!” The cop exclaims, grabbing Steve's hand. “He’s my—” Steve stops himself, because what would he say? Friend? Trauma bonded acquaintance? Dustin's friend that he should have protected? The cop folds his arms, with his face in a tight line. “You think you are the first guy that tried to view that freaky serial murderer?” Steve grunts. “He’s a lot of things, but he's not a murderer.” The cop laughs. “So you're a part of his cult then?” Steve snarls. “It’s not a cult, it's a club for nerds.” The cop scoffs. “Then why is it called Hellfire?” Steve digs his nails into his palms, no doubt leaving angry red marks in them, as he glares up at the cop in front of him. “Because it sounds cool? And it's a fantasy game.” Steve admittedly knew very little about the game, but he knew Dustin would never associate with something truly evil. Besides, he and Eddie had gotten close enough to determine his innocence and see his kindness.
The cop rolls his eyes. “Look. Only cops and direct family can go in there. You will have to wait for when he's healed from whatever attacked him, and on trial for the three murders he did.” Steve grumbles. “He is innocent. And isn't it innocent until proven guilty?” Steve asserts, making the cop roll his eyes. “Sure, but the evidence is stacking against him.” Steve reaches into his pocket, to grab his wallet. This arguing won't get me inside that room. The only way I'm getting in that room is if I use another method. “How about we make a different deal?” He asks, and like all the dåmn cops Steve has ever interacted with, barring Hopper, maybe, the cop looks almost like a kid in a candy store at the suggestion of a bribe. “How much are we talking about?” Steve sighs. Well, we've already reached felony territory, so let's see where this'll bring me. He reaches into his wallet. “I got a twenty and a five.” He says, although he really had something closer to a hundred in various bills there. He has learned from experience when bribing to convince cops who spotted him smoking weed, that you don't tell them the true total you're carrying so they don't take it all in a greedy streak. The cop looks around, as if you see if anyone would see him, and sees no cameras. He holds out his hand. Steve smirks internally. Cheapskate. He shoves the bills into hand, and the cop steps out of the way.
“You are crazy for wanting to go in there. Like it's your funeral, kid.” Steve sighs. “Still not a murderer.” He opens the door, and stands in the doorway. After Dustin dragged Eddie out of the Upside Down with a fractured leg, Dustin tried to get inside the room to check in on him, and judging by the fact he sees Dustin asleep on Eddie's chest, he succeeded. Steve considers asking him how he does it. Steve scoffs, looking at Dustin with his face planted against Eddie's chest. He's gonna feel that when he wakes up. Steve thinks, earning the courage to step into the room, and walking up to Eddie's bedside. The cop closes the door, and if he saw Dustin, he made no effort to remove him. He looks down at Eddie to see the handcuffs holding him to the bed. Truth be told, he couldn't stand to see Eddie like this.
“You can't be everywhere at once.” Robin had told him when Eddie was getting his surgery to close his wounds, but Steve didn't accept it. Between Max's coma and Eddie's near death experience, he couldn't help but blame himself. I should have been there for them. “Harrington?” Eddie asks, sounding out of it. Steve chews the inside of his cheek, and looks down at him. “Hi.” He says, not really sure what to say. Eddie looks at Dustin, and frowns. “I guess I won't be getting up.” He jokes, forcing a smile. “How are you feeling?” Steve asks, and Eddie groans. “Drugged to high hell, heh, ‘high.’ But alive, so, alright, I guess.” Steve scoffs. “I thought I told you not to be a hero, man.” Eddie shakes his head. “I had to, man. They were getting in, and Dustin, and—and–”
He starts to cough, his whole body jolting up and jostling Dustin awake. Steve passes Eddie a glass of water as Dustin groggily sits up, rubbing his eyes. Eddie winces, realizing he woke him up. “Sorry, Henderson.” Dustin grumbles, but then he gasps, as if it just hit him who spoke. “Eddie!” He exclaims, wrapping his arms around him in a bear hug. Eddie grunts, and Steve clears his throat, knowing from experience that he was in pain. “Dustin, I know you're excited to see him, but try to be gentle with him.” Eddie gives Steve a grateful smile, and Steve gives a nod. Dustin loosen his grip, and sniffs. “Sorry,” he mumbles, and Eddie chuckles. “It's okay, kid. I should apologize to you for giving you such a scare.” Dustin frowns looking at Steve. “How did you get in here?” He asks, and Steve points towards the door. “I committed a felony.” He walks over to Steve, and eyes him up and down. “You look fine? Did you win another fight?” Dustin asks, making Eddie frown. Steve shakes his head. “Jeez, I didn't assault the officer, Dustin!” He holds up his wallet, which he hadn't put away yet, and Dustin nods.
Eddie laughs. “You committed a crime to visit a criminal, Harrington?” Steve sighs. “You're not a criminal, you haven't done anything wrong.” He says, and Eddie tries to move his handcuffed hand. “My sweet new jewelry says otherwise.” Dustin shakes his head. “No, we'll figure something out.” He says, and Eddie sighs. “Well, wake me when you figure that out. The drugs they pumped in me are making me woozy again.” Dustin smiles. “Okay, we'll be quiet.” Eddie scoffs. “Who are you and what happened to Dustin Henderson? You couldn't be quiet if your life depended on it!” Eddie says, and Dustin frowns. He turns to Steve for him to defend him, and Steve just shrugs. “If that is you looking for support, I'm afraid Munson's right, Dustin.” Dustin stomps his foot, sticking his bottom out, and crossing his arms. “I think I preferred it when you too were jealous of each other.” He grumbles, and both Steve and Eddie laugh. He doesn't like us ganging up on him. Noted for when he's getting on my nerves. Steve smiles, and Dustin walks to the opposite side of the room, facing the wall.
