So I am still typing, I don't know what episode, but this here.....
Day's memories have been a sparse, some Baby Salmon stuff, a random kitchen thing, and a whole lot of violence. Almost every memory Day has had, includes him grabbing Itt with force, choking him slightly, or hitting him, with Itt not fighting back. Itt yells, argues, gets in Day’s space, but once he is pushed or struck, he stays put.
At this point, Day has thrown Itt to the ground in the hospital and kicked him down,
Squeezed Itt's arm painfully when berating him during the one towel bath.
Held him against the the wall in the bathroom, in the choke hold.
He hurts him regularly.
He probably doesn't even remember the cry of Itt when woke, you were suppose to be changed, you promised.
As it is, Itt has been accepting a great deal of abuse, even with complaints. It's known he needs Day’s permission to travel, by this point he learns that Itt's only job is working in the auto shop when Day let's him, he washes Day's cars and he waters the plants. Itt's day to day is whatever Day decides.
I mean Day flat out told him, that he wants him to give up cake. And Itt agreed without hesitation, if that is Day’s wish then he will obey.
Last episode Itt thought, I am property? This episode, he just asks Day.
And if Day had said yes, or currently, then Itt would have accepted that, he would have been sad, but he probably would have felt better. His ownership wouldn't be in question, and he wouldn't fear being tossed aside. Because Day owns nice things and treats them well, and right now Itt could use the stability.
But the reaction of everyone to Day hitting Itt is telling. Not awkward. They know that he won't do that anymore, he is protected from that, he earned his place next to Day. Nan the douche canoe is shocked by the strike.
Someone probably should have told him that he doesn't beat Itt.
