“can we just cuddle?” for Fenhawke, please and thank you!

His palm is warm, rough, and perfect down the curve of her, slipping underneath her thigh. He pulls her leg up, and she slips her foot over the back of his leg, and then sinks it back down into the mattress. Her fingers move lazily up and down the length of his back. His other hand is at the nape of her neck, propped up on his elbow, and the kiss against her temple is slow, lingering. He plants it carefully. His other hand is moving up the curve of her, slipping underneath her, splaying at her back. He gently knocks his forehead against hers, and she opens her eyes. “Are you alright?” Fenris asks her.

Hawke pushes back into the pillow so that she can look up at him better, more completely. “What do you mean?” Her hands curl at his shoulder blades. A complicated knot forms between his brows and he looks away from her only briefly, before his eyes find hers once again.

“You seem… distracted,” he says. The knot untangles, soft and kind. He looks at her with such concern as he brushes away the stray wisps of midnight hair from her face. It’s not unexpected. She knows how thoughtful he is, how tender. She treasures how loud his love resounds in all that he does. Touch slips over his shoulder, down his arm, and she holds his hand against her cheek, encourages the two to stay together.

“I think today’s been longer than I thought,” she admits in a whisper as she closes her eyes, and he moves his thumb over her cheekbones. He lets his weight settle slowly over her. They curl and coil into each other, tangling limb and lip, until comfortable. His arm is underneath her neck, one of her legs between his. Her hand touches at his chest as her head rests in the crook of his neck, his other arm wrapped around her and holding her close. He rests his cheek against her forehead.

“What can I do?” he asks.

“Can we just stay like this?” She presses closer, squeezing her eyes closed. He reaches for the nearby blanket, pulls it around them both.

“Mmm,” he hums agreement, “as long as you need.”

These seemed best together, so here’s a quick Merrill ficlet!

“Why are you whispering?” asked Merrill, coming up behind Hawke and Isabela, where they lurked in the shadows of the marketplace. “Are we sharing secrets?”

Isabela made a shushing motion with her hand, so Merrill repeated, more quietly, “Are we sharing secrets?”

“Oh yes, Kitten,” Isabela replied, “very scandalous ones.” She waggled her eyebrows for good measure.  

Hawke rolled their eyes, and corrected, “We’re following that man with the green hat, he’s a suspected blood mage or has ties to one, and we’re hoping he’ll lead us to his hideout.”

Merrill understood this to mean that the man was the bad sort of blood mage, so she refrained from pointing out that Hawke and Isabela, in fact, had very close ties to a blood mage as well. Perhaps they were being followed through the marketplace as well.  Merrill checked behind them, but saw no one whispering there. 

“I’m starting to think this isn’t the right guy,” Hawke muttered. The man in the hat continued to shop for oranges.

“Or maybe he knows you’re following him, and is acting like not-a-blood-mage? That’s what I do,” Merrill added helpfully.

“Be quiet! You’ll get us caught!” Hawke was a little more exasperated than usual.

Merrill shrugged, and went back to her interrupted shopping. She didn’t think she had been so loud. Anyway, she needed oranges too. The man in the green hat ignored her, as most shems did.

Behind her, Hawke and Isabela continued to be the most suspicious thing in the marketplace.

17. How does your Watcher feel about their Awakening? Did they make peace with it, or do they view it as a curse? (for any/all of your OCs - I don't know what a watcher is but now I'm intrigued!)

Oh thanks for asking, especially since you don’t know what it is!! Watchers are both the main character in POE but also a class of people, like how to Warden is both the protagonist and a class.

A watcher in basic summary is someone who can read others souls, which means they can see/experience the memories of any person they meet if they so wish, including past lives. In Pillars of Eternity the souls of a person go through a cycle, when someone dies their soul goes through a process dubbed the Wheel, where it passes into a new person, meaning that soul of any person was a soul of another person before they died).

An awakening is when the soul can actually recall the past lives, which means that person remembers what they did in a past life and has all the memories of a past life. (this is a brief summary btw! there’s more to it but that’s the main gist)

Thirza: Thirza already wasn’t a fan of her own memories or even sharing them, and she certainly didn’t like becoming a Watcher and being able to read others souls, she felt wrong to have those abilities. So having her soul awaken, and now suddenly having these memories that aren’t even hers, from someone she had never even heard of, they can’t control when these memories occur either, and these memories aren’t exactly happy ones either. So they’re not a fan of it, and do view it as a curse, especially because these memories are more akin to nightmares, so she often can’t even sleep. So she views it quite like a curse

Imre: He doesn’t mind, he in fact sees it as a good thing. He gets to learn more about awakened souls and how they work and also be able to remember a person who had passed in a very unique way, so he never saw it as a curse. Sure, he didn’t enjoy that sometimes the memories that came over him acted more like nightmares then pleasant dreams but he never viewed it as a negative, to him having an awakened soul is both a learning experience on how they work, as well as being able to carry another person’s story on, which to him, not letting someones live be forgotten and instead remembered is important to him.

Ariel: He considers the memories of the Awakened soul distracting, not as something good or a curse. He wants them gone but not because the memories can sometimes be about terrible things that person did, or nightmare like at times, he just wants it gone because he wants to be able to sleep without these memories tormenting him.

☕️ And Lal? I have many feelings about her and would love to hear your thoughts!

FIRSTLY, it was a crime that she was only there for ONE EPISODE! They could've at the very least have her arc in the Offspring spread out over a few episodes here and there!! I would have loved to see her interact with the crew in more than a single episode, and it would've made her deconstruction even sadder if they made her have a small story arc over a few episodes instead of the one.

Secondly!! I love her! I loved how she was Data's daughter and not a traditional sense, and there interactions were so heartwarming that I really wish she hadn't died. I would have loved to see Lal grow, seeing her aspirations and personality flourish. I would have loved to see more of Data and Lal because from just the episode I was so invested in their relationship as a father and daughter, and it would be wonderful to see that bond grow and change through the seasons.

We were robbed!! Like I do love Offspring, it is such a good TNG episode but imagine if she'd lived!! Seeing a new character thrown into the cast and watching her basically grow up and become her own person and figure out who she wanted to be would've been so good!!! Like imagine if we could have Lal and Data doing things together, Data learning more about what it means to be Human through watching his daughter grow, and I'm just a sucker for families in Star Trek and we were so robbed of this one

Imagine her learning about the different cultures from a rather unbiased viewpoint that the Federation has, her being able to learn from the main crew and seeing her slowly became her own self! She could've been such a good additional character and would've really been so nice to watch I think.

I do have to say even though I wish we could have had Lal for more than a single episode, I absolutely love how TNG handled her character and despite being there just for one episode I grew to love her very quickly, and they definitely did a very good job at getting me emotionally vested in her in so many ways.
