"Natsu, we're almost there" Happy announced, carrying his companion through the air next to a deluxe casino.

"Alright, nin-nin," the Dragon Slayer responded through the scarf that was wrapped around his head.

They were proceeding to enter the casino through a new entrance, newly created by them.  They had been turned away at the front doors, the Staff speaking about "not the sort of clientele they wanted".  This had not gone over well with Natsu, though he was pulled away by Happy, with the Exceed stating that there were more ways in.

It was a new city, a new land to explore.  The two had little to no money for what they needed, and so, following the advertisements that filled the ward, they came to the casino and were promptly turned away.  But, Fairy Tail mages are known for being persistent.

After reaching a landing point, Natsu fell to the ground and landed expertly, with Happy floating down next to him.

"We're in, nin-nin," Natsu said, acting like a ninja.

The two entered into one of the higher floors of the casino.  The games were right there in front of them, but before they could get very far two security guards each had an arm under Natsu's shoulders, ready to drag him back out of the casino.

When security attempted to move him, Natsu held his ground, getting a silly grin on his face.  If they wanted to remove him, they would have to try harder.  After all, he and Happy would get their chance to increase their wealth, even if someone stood in their way.

Despite how Zen enjoyed bragging about how perfect  he was, he was not. Every beautiful man had his own bad side. Zen had a few, an unpleasant upbringing, a few real scares, that whole scandal not so long ago, deaths... there were a lot of unpleasant things in his background. But there was also unpleasant things now.

Zen had promised to quit the terrible habit but having been thrown into a strange city... well he’d accidentally slipped into some unhealthy old habits. One of those was smoking. He glanced around briefly before pulling out the packet and placing the butt between his lips. Though unlike that one sad movie, this was no metaphor.

Lifting a lighter he lit the cigarette before slipping the packet and lighter back into his pocket. Leaning his head against the brick wall, he blew out a long blow of smoke, the tension in his shoulders releasing. It was worth the risk for this brief moment of calm.

The air split as a sword cut through the air.  Natsu dodged the blade and returned fire, quite literally, with a fire clad kick. The blow demolished the spawn that had attempted to slice him.  

“Natsu, here’s more!” Happy shouted, flying low to the ground with a group of the creatures following him.  

“Fire Dragon’s Roar!” The Dragon Slayer cast, sending a torrent of flames from his mouth towards the group of drones following his partner.  The flames that were meant to crush a dragon were more than enough to destroy the minions of the great beast that was rampaging through the sector.  “How’s it look?”

“Not good, more of those things keep appearing and rushing everywhere.”

“So all we gotta do is take down the big guy,” Natsu said while directing his attention at the creature.

“But you can’t deal much damage alone, if only we had someone else…” Happy muttered while touching down on the ground.

Their attention was taken from the large creature when another horde of the smaller creatures appeared from all sides.  “Alright Happy, let’s show ‘em what we got!”

Vlad leaned on the table, glancing over at the man who was reading. He’d gone to the library in search of more information about the city; he’d wound up people-watching. There were people everywhere - most of them Easterners, as short as he was, or shorter. It was a bit of a disconcerting feeling.

Still, one thing held true, across most worlds- anyone who wore robes like that had to be a sorceror. Right? 

“So... here’s a question.”

“I know why they’ve disabled sorcery here. But does anyone have an idea of how?”
