Daylen wasn’t much of a gambling man. He didn’t feel it was inherently evil or something like that. Fellow Wardens could bet over Wicked Grace if they wanted. Just as long as things didn’t get too out of hand. The mage is simply very frugal with his money. It seemed too dangerous to risk it all. At least in this city he wasn’t handling Amaranthine’s funds.
The Golden Dawn Casino had come up several times when he asked about the Ward. Apparently it was one of the main attractions. If anything, Daylen could use this place to his advantage. It would pay off to learn about other wealthy people here. Given they’d have the resources to shape the island after its restoration.
He wanted to keep tabs on them just in case one pulled off something he didn’t like. The Warden might not be joining the police force but he still felt some responsibility. To make sure the people in this city were safe. Both the natural residents and anyone pulled here forcibly.
Entering the establishment had been rather easy. Although he isn’t used to this virtual currency yet. Rather than handing over money to get in, dust had been transferred from phone to phone. At least the woman at the teleporter had been nice enough to explain it. Apparently everyone was just settling into the casino, particularly with their mysterious new boss.
Daylen did tend to stand out upon entering. He wore typical mage robes rather than a suit, once again becoming an anachronism in this world. Fortunately he isn’t the only one. Upon scanning the entrance, there were others dressed in similar clothing. The casino wasn’t just exclusive to those from modern worlds, despite how confusing some of the games available might be.
While exploring he’d made his way to a higher floor. Maybe he should try a slot machine or something, just so he isn’t kicked out for not spending money yet.
However the Warden ends up distracted by a man making a scene near the entrance. They were accompanied by some kind of blue cat, not looking too unhappy about the situation. Daylen couldn’t help but be curious. If this man really did deserve to be kicked out, then he could just leave security to it.
“Is something going on over here? I was going over to gamble, but this has caught my attention. This man certainly doesn’t seem threatened by being carried out.”
The Dragon Slayer held his ground, waiting for the two guards to possibly think better of trying to force him out. However, he was here on a mission. If there was a way to earn enough money to cover any costs for living here, especially with a rumored high-stakes game Happy had heard about, then Natsu wouldn't let anyone get in his way. Plus the exclusionary attitude did annoy him.
In a swift motion, he pushed the guard on his right away from him, so that he could move his arm. Now free, he spun around and punched the guard still holding him, knocking them to the ground. The previous guard had drawn something from his coat before clicking it, causing the device to become longer, something akin to a short sword or a wand.
Natsu kept waiting, he did not want to instigate more than necessary.
"One game and then we'll leave, just point us to the one with the most money!"
Happy had been watching his partner lay one guard out on the floor and proceed to ask where the game with the most money was. Turning to look around at the rest of the casino, Happy thought he saw someone he recognized from another time in the past.
