As many of you have probably assumed, my favourite flowers are lilies. But not just any lilies. My favourite kind is the one on the picture and they’re called daylilies.

Daylilies (genus Hemerocallis) get their name because each individual flower lasts only a single day. However, because established plants produce dozens of buds per stem, they provide continuous blooms throughout the summer. They are incredibly hardy, versatile perennials that come in almost every color.

Daylilies grow around my house every summer and there’s hundreds of them everywhere. Every morning, I pick up new ones for my vase, so I can have them in my house all summer long.

They truly are very beautiful and I’m so delighted every year, in June, when they finally start to bloom.
