Day in Life

Finally!!! Okay so for the past 2 hours I have been trying to get on Tumblr at work but I forgot my password and I also forgot the password of my old email but Alhamdulilah I got in now.

My work placement is absolutely awesome, not because of the tasks I am doing but for the fact I am basically doing nothing. I am only answering phone calls and that's it. I loveee it though. I have so much free time. All I do is sit behind my desk and watch lectures and learn Arabic. I need to make beneficent use of my time now, since I have no school up until September.

The office is fairly small and they have no prayer room. The company mentor told me I could pray in his little office room. Sometimes he has business meetings, and of course then I can’t pray in there. He arrives at the office around 1pm so was able to catch Dhur prayer on time, Asr I can usually pray at home.

But today he arrived a bit earlier so I decided to just search for the closest place in the area that has a prayer room. I went to St. Mary Hospital and asked for the prayer room, there it was a prayer room for females, I felt at ease Alhamdulilah. This was probably the first time since my stay in London I got into contact with sisters apart from my relatives.

At the moment I am staying with my relatives and they live in central London, close to all the great sights in London. Ideal, you would say, but to be honest I’m not really interested. The only thing I want is to visit mosques and see different Muslim communities since UK has one of the largest ones in Europe if not the largest MashaAllah. The Masjid is legit the only place I can call home. Being away from home is an interesting experience. Still surreal.

Customer Service

When I'm at work i personally go out my way to make sure my people get the best service out this bitch. (when i'm at work i personally make sure my people get the best service when they walk into the store.) Lady asks me my opinion on some sneakers she saw on display. She also wanted my opinion on something else. She said her son asked her for some Uggz. She said "Do you think i should get them for him? Is it for boys?" Then she began to elaborate and explain how he's weird and likes weird things. I told her, get him the Uggz if that's what he really wants. (Sidenote---Whenever a customer comes in and says it's a gift they are buying or someone asked them for something specifically, im a HUGE advocate for that person that isnt there. I push for the customer to get specifically what the person asked for because i know what it's like. Growing up, being asked what do i want as a gift and then they turn around and get me what they want me to have. Crushing feeling.) I digress. Lol So i said to the lady, "At least he isn't trying to look like a clone walking around Boston. He isn't weird, he is different." (I live in Boston, Ma) Then she told me alittle more about him, i told her "He is unique. He has his own sense of style and at least he isn't walking around looking like *i point to a Boston clone in the store* She said "You know...... you have a point, you're right, thank you so much. She smiled and left the store."
