it's strange, being in an unfamiliar city- away from most everything that he had known. surely, without charizard- no, charmander, for some reason- at his side, grisham was certain he would've ... well, what would he have done? it wasn't his first time being on his own.
life hadn't been easy after the collapse of team flare. he had been told all of his life that the world was meant to be beautiful- whatever that was supposed to mean. that he should be able to shape it in a way that would make it better. he remembered listening to lysandre's words, following every order without question, because it meant the world would be more beautiful, right? all he had earned from that was five years of struggling to make ends meet. of being an outcast in society because of a path that ... he wanted to say he didn't choose, but was that even true?
it's charmander's delighted chirp that breaks grisham from his thoughts. the little lizard pokemon had spotted a very fluffy eevee- a familiar thing- and had hustled over to the other pokemon as fast as his little legs would take him. it didn't take grisham long to catch up to his pokemon and scoop him into his arms. ❝ i am so sorry- i wasn't watching him as closely as i should have been- ❞
it hits him then that the fact this young woman was accompanied by an eevee meant that not everything was so unfamiliar. he puts on his best smile, warm and inviting- ❝ your eevee is beautiful, though. ❞
