"I Love You"
Tiny eenie weenie drabble for an eenie weenie dweetie that I can and will die for kthx
[DBD] Dwight Fairfield X Reader
There was a silent plea in his eyes as his fingers coiled around your wrists. The pads of his thumbs smoothly ran over the back of your hands; warm and comforting. You gave the man a patient smile, silently urging him to continue. He couldn't look you in the eye. His anxious gaze averted to the ground, focused on the foot he was nervously kicking at the dirt with. You waited. His lips curled into a shy grin.
"What do you want?" You finally decided to break the silence. He swayed on his heels and could only seem to muster enough courage to give you a second of eye contact before he'd looked away again. It took a few moments of hesitation before he managed to coax himself to speak, and when he did, his voice was quiet and pleading.
You watched him smile nervously, afraid of being shutting down. It was completely beyond you why he'd believe you'd ever even dare deny a request from him. "K-Kiss me?" He asked, a tiny squeak in his voice. An anxious giggle vibrated through his chest and you couldn't help but grin helplessly at the poor bloke. Would you ever refuse him? No. Could you refuse him? No.
"Dwight," you chuckled into your sigh, slipping your hands into his palms. "What have I told you?"
The look on his face was priceless. That guilty, yet oddly pleased look. "To just... Do it instead of asking?" Yes. You'd told him that several times now. It was endearing that he still felt afraid enough to ask before he'd give you a simple kiss.
You leaned forward on the tips of your toes and regarded him with a wry, mischievous look. His dark eyes focused on you with a shimmer of anticipation as your lips drew ever nearer. You heard him deeply inhale through his nose as his gaze flickered to your mouth and back up again to watch you. "And why do I tell you to do that?"
He giggled helplessly. You could see the emotions clearly on his face; the man was smitten with you. Everyone had said so. Dwight's every action towards you said so. His eyes shone beneath his glasses and his face screwed up in playful joy. "Because you love me?" He asked, raising his shoulders to his jawline and beaming at you like a love-struck idiot.
"Do I have to say it again to remind you?" You couldn't help but tease. His mouth twitched and he sunk in on himself, playfully begging for you to do just that. "D-Don't have to, but it'd be nice."
You pried your hands out of his grip and made grabby motions towards him. The sight of your upturned palms seemed to ignite an urgency in him, and he eagerly pressed his chin into the shared hold of your hands. You squished his cheeks and he grinned up at you with the dorkiest smile you'd ever seen in your life. "Dwight," you sighed, pretending this was an inconvenience. He made a noise of acknowledgement. "I love you."
And somehow, the simple phrase made him even happier. A bubble of giggles erupted from him as if you'd just told him something incredibly secretive. Something that only he was allowed to know.
He darted forward. You felt the ridge of his glasses dig into your cheekbones, but you didn't really care. One shy peck of the lips and he was already withdrawing, smiling giddily. He was proud of himself. And he had every reason to be, you figured.
Dwight hesitated for a moment, shaking his head slowly side to side as he internally debated with himself. You waited. He shifted. He came for your lips again after the more clingy part of himself won the inner argument.
It was sweeter this time. Softer. More patient. You pulled him in by the chin and cheeks and smiled against his lips. A touch ghosted across your hips, and he finally latched on, curling his fingers around your sides. You could feel his entire body sink into you, and it forced a content sigh from your body.
He pulled away, but barely. "I love you," his whispered words vibrated against the flesh of your lip. You only smiled; he was telling you something you already knew. But it didn't hurt to hear it again.
