oh my god!!! I officially am monetized on Twitch!!! That happened much faster than I thought it would! Have to thank @untildawn10thanniversaryzine for printing my twitch username in the zine so other people can find it!! And @queenofbaws for introducing me to the zine! I play Dead by Daylight on there mostly and am very poor so if you have any money or just want to see me get my ass kicked in dbd, then boy do I have a Twitch channel for you!! No pressure to subscribe or anything but holy hell would that help xD
Got called a loser by a twitch survivor’s audience for leaving early and a “sweaty-balled bitch” by the killer in the same match no one is doing it like me.
Overview of DbD Twitch Stream #15 "Of fluff and salty lips..."
[Watch the post-recorded stream here]
Highlights:
Pax WEST - The DbD Team is heading out to Pax WEST next week; they want to shower you with goodies if they see you there at their booth! There will be even more special gifts from the DbD team if you either show up cos-playing or if you prove yourself as a very exceptional player :)
Murders - 2 Million murders a week is the average amount on a normal week of DbD, but during their free week, it had spiked up to 5 million with 71 thousand murders an hour on Sunday alone ;)
Making DbD More Newbie Friendly? - Yes, the crew wants to make things more easier for newer players. They understand that there’s a very high learning curve in DbD and they want to make it less traumatic for new players.
Bloodpoint Trading - Refunding perks? It’s in the works! They also like the idea of craft-able perks.
The rest of the overview is below!
Gameplay:
Nurse Balancing - The DbD crew take in a lot of different dynamic elements (such as people trying to new killer, people that don’t know how to counter nurse yet.) They do agree that some of her perks may need adjusting, but otherwise.
Killer Bodyblocking - It’s hard to say if there a quick solution to this, because to a degree, the design of collision is intentional.
Why Remove the Survivor Ranks from being Viewable? - It’s a bandage (temporary) solution to lobby dodging. It will come back and it will be better.
Additional Maps for the Asylum - They’ve only made one due to time constraints, but they do want more map variation for it.
Flashlight Fixes - They’re still adjusting it to make it more usable.
Iron Will Still Not Working - It’s been fixed, but there’s still the occasionally report that it’s not fixed. Please send in reports if the perk isn’t working for you!
Matchmaking - Matchmaking is trying to match you with the same ranked players, but there’s also a time limit. When the matchmaker can’t find players around the same rank as you and your waiting time has ran out, you will be shoved into the next game in queue regardless if the killer’s or survivor’s ranks.
Overly Loud Music During Chases - The developers don’t plan on changing it, as your senses become a bit of a ‘tunnel vision’ when the music drowns out important sound cues (such as the killer). It’s intentional.
Hatches - Dave thinks the hatch needs a bit of fixing, they want to make it more interesting.
Killers Have OP Perk Combinations - The developers do notice this and they’re considering empowering survivors to be able to counter such combinations of perks.
Buff Trapper? - Maybe. He’s not a bad killer, it’s just that his traps are quite delicate.
Changes to Teachable Perks? - The DbD crew have no plans nor see the need to change the teachable perks.
Merging Perks (Two very similar perks) - Yes, they’ve considered it.
More Gestures in the Future? - Yes.
Developer’s Plans:
Separate Actions for Keybinding - Currently, keybinds are still coupled (tripping traps and unhooking survivors is still the same button). It’s not a simple thing, but the developers do consiter seperate actions with the usable of custom keybinds.
Returning and Revamping Old Perks? - Yes, the DbD crew wants to-- but they mention Lightborn in particular ;)
Other Weather Conditions (Snow, Rain) - Yes! The developers love the idea. Perhaps it will be introduced in the next chapter of Dead by Daylight.
New DLC with more Outfits - Yes! The DbD crew is looking into this ;)
Double Blood Point Weekend? - It’s a good idea.
Ping Indicator - They have noticed things with ping, but they haven’t offered an specific ideas in regards to an in-game ping indicator.
Story Mode - They want to expand the story, but they are not planning in a single player mode.
More Interaction with Environment? - More things would be good.
More Assents For Environments - They’re sticking to their current designs of maps. The environments are a representation of reality made by the Entity, who sometimes makes mistakes in the environment, which is intentional. Some things may look off. If proposed changes serve game play and it’s what the crew wants, they may consider revisiting map design, however.
Lore:
- The Entity, offerings, and the killers are considered supernatural beings.
Etc:
Custom Items (Pax WEST) - There will be custom-crafted items to give out, but there may be some things that will be openly distributed (merchandise).
Hobbies of the DbD Crew - Ash has daughters to take care of and writes books (though he consitered himself bad at it. He has no novels published), Dave likes to drink and he’s been spotted in making pixel art (but generally he has a lot of hobbies), and Mathew likes making small robots.
Overview of DbD Twitch Stream #14: "This stream is totally OP"
Dave, Mathew, and Ash here today to answer some questions and discuss current content!
[Watch the stream here]
Highlights:
- Oouga chagga.
- DbD Crew will be at Pax West and they have many cool goodies to give to fans!
- The new content (Nurse, Asylum) will be available for everyone within an hour after the stream is over!
- Please add question marks to any of your questions in the Q&A collection threads, sometimes they can’t tell if something is a suggestions or a question!
- The Nurse is OP? No, she forces you to change your playstyle-- this is intentional! Even her environment, the little hills, multi-platofrm buildings, is meant to challenge all players, survivor or killer.
- The DbD crew in regards to DLC: They want to release as much content as they can, after testing, of course, but they are eager to provide more to both their fans and the game. They want to focus on content to add onto current existing features at the moment, and when they feel that they have time, make new content.
All map DLCs will be free, everyone will naturally have new maps. They don’t want to split the community because half has a feature and the other doesn’t.
- A new feature that’s been implemented with The Nurse content: chatboxes after the match ;)
- If you’ve been banned by their anti-cheat system, they’ll actually tell you now.
- Keymapping is here with The Nurse!
- [See the gigantic bugfixlist here and other new tweaks and features]
See the rest of the overview below!
Lore:
- If the killers met face-to-face, would they get along or will they fight? They can’t say what would happen (as they don’t know), but Dave has dropped an idea of the two killers meeting in a 2-killer mode. The other two in the team as told Dave to “be careful” as to what he says.
- None of the characters have known each other prior to being put in the entity’s playground.
Gameplay and Features:
- Underused perks will be revisited, but generally, they are monitoring all perks.
- The DbD crew doesn’t like it when Hatch Standoffs happen. Like the window cheesing, this slows down the game where nobody progresses. They want to reward people for doing stuff; they may change the point values of all actions to better encourage active playing instead of hatch-camping.
- Lobby problems (Survive with Friends, general lobby problems)-- it is their top priority at the moment; they couldn’t push it out with The Nurse because they deemed it too risky.
- They’ve tweaked the flashlight a bit. They’re working with their engineer to further tinker with the flashlight to make it more usable.
- Yes, they want to adjust the skill check failures happening just as you leave your action. One of the developers have had it happen to them; they don’t like it (and will fix it).
Developer’s Plans:
- Alternative modes the DbD Teams have humored: hud-less game (not actually in development)
- They make sure to try not to pull any kneejerk reasons without statistics to back it up. They want incremental changes, this includes any concerns regarding with perks.
- The popular combination of perks (such as the holy trinity: saboteur, self-heal, and sprint), they recognize, but as they add more content, they will slowly change the meta also.
- They can completely change perks at any time, but they want to keep old perks, even if they’re unpopular.
- Companion perks (perks that need each-other and would be useless if separated)? Potentially.
- They want to alter the killer-camping. Standing there and doing nothing is boring, they would rather the killer patrol around.
- Perhaps a hint of gestures while hooked? They’ve acknowledged the survivors M1 spam to signal a camping killer. They thought it was smart and wanted the fans to keep that in mind!
- In the future, they are looking to expand the game rules in different ways-- there may be more objectives to be done!
- Killer cosmetics is planned.
- Plans of an indoor map? Yes, plans! The Asylum was the first step that they felt confident on.
- They looking at console ports; it’s going to take awhile, a couple of months to a year, but they do want it on consoles.
Etc:
- Time it took to create the newest chapter content: and estimate of 2 months. There’s many ideas that go around; it may vary, as this is their first released DLC.
- The four main survivors are all based on creativity, save for Dwight, whose face was modeled after a real Dwight (Another Dwight that’s on their team, the irl Dwight!)
- They carefully craft their new killers and survivors, but in short, they “make shit up”. It’s an element that’s dynamic and is driven by the community.
