All the news about Xenoverse 3 inspired me to revisit my own Dragon Ball Flash Forward story, this time set in the GT timeline. Mine is a dystopia, taking place 500 years after Goku flew off with Shenron at the end of GT. It includes influence from Logan (2017), Elysium (2013) and a whole lot of 2000s nostalgia🤙

Here are the five main characters, drawn in chibi form because that’s always fun🩷

The main trio of my Dragon Ball fan story all together💕

Left to right: Lute, Okra and Fuchsia. Lute is the youngest at 19, Okra in the middle at 21 and Fuchsia the oldest at 24. The three of them are born 500 years after the ending of GT (but before the fast forward with Goku Jr.)

I’ve already talked about these three in previous posts but to recap: Lute is descended from Piccolo, Okra from one of the many Saiyans that found their way to Earth and Fuchsia from Majuub. Their supernatural heritage makes them a target for the governing bodies of the world, along with the shady figureheads in charge of Capsule Corp…but once this adventure kicks off, this modern dystopia will never be the same💪💥

Imitating manga covers again because it’s fun and nostalgic. Also I’m aware I goofed on the foreheads.

November really is “re-live everything I obsessed over in Middle School” month😂🩷I’m loving it.

Rewatching Dragonball GT inspired me to redesign my DB OC, Okra, and now their story is slowly coming together in my head. As such, what started as a simple full-body illustration of the character turned into this😭🤣

Okra is the one with blond bangs. They are nonbinary and use they/them pronouns. I decided to make Okra as 2000s as possible, as a nod to the era during which this franchise inspired me. Okra’s story is actually set 500 years after Goku flew off with Shenron at the end of GT.

The two characters in the smaller boxes are Braies (male, pronounced “Braze”) and Chemise (female, pronounced “Sheh-meez.”) They’re siblings and currently running the Capsule Corp empire. They’re also some of the bad guys. All three characters are descended from Saiyans.

Okra’s story starts out similarly to the plot of Logan: they send away for a DNA kit to learn more about their family, as Okra doesn’t remember their parents all that well. The results put them on the government hit list - in order to protect the earth, several powers came together and decided to wipe out anyone with extraterrestrial heritage. Capsule Corp provides the kits used to aid this process.

I’m thinking as the story progresses, Okra will meet new friends in similar situations and form a new generation of Earth’s defenders. Haven’t decided what will happen to the siblings mentioned above yet. They’re protected from extermination due to a contract made ages ago, but who knows if that will last forever…

I’m not sold on the title just yet but there are so many Dragonball series and games and comics and books, it’s hard to pick something unique.

Anyway, let me know what you think! Like Okra, the bare bones of this story came to me when I was a kid: I’m having fun polishing it after all these years!
