It’s a little bit more of a bummer than most citizen science projects, but I wanted to give a shoutout to dBird, where you can report dead or injured birds throughout the USA to provide data for NYC Audubon. We might not all have time for a daily eBird checklist, but hopefully you don’t come across as many dead birds - if you do, the whole process took me under a minute to report a sighting. There’s less than 2000 birds reported for 2024 as of this post (which isn’t a lot, given how many birds die annually), so if and when you sadly find a dead bird, think of dBird’s conservation efforts and send in your report!

Does Bird have any hobbies?

Although she associates it with Proserpine, she still loves to sing. Now that she is more or less free, she can decide for herself for whom she sings.

With singing, she can reveal her feelings that no one else seems to really understand. In any case, what Proserpine does to her, forcing her to do it, always felt wrong. 

If her environment were more peaceful, she would take care of a garden. To see something grow up in a world where she is. Would bring her great hope. Then there would be the aspect that she could produce food for herself. And not have to be a burden to someone else. But also flowers would be in her garden to remind her of the beauty of a lost world.

What is Bird's favorite gemstone?

Bird would definitely prefer warm colors in gems. Like amber or rubies. And not the colors that remind her of darkness or cold.

An amber she would guard like a treasure because it reminded her of the warmth of a fire and the colors of Arioch.

So she can imagine that she always has something of him with her, but she would never tell him that. (Would make a cute scene in the fic?)
