Lucifer Morningstar x Fem! Reader (Ariana Grande as Glinda for the face claim)
TW: religious based trauma, mild cursing, familial turmoil, minimal use of y/n, implied homophobia, very self indulgent for me

"Please, whatever you do, don't tell them you're the devil"
"And if they ask what I do for work, darling, what then?"
"You're a nightclub owner. Now please tell me you're nearly packed."
"Indeed I am, love. All ready to meet your family in Chicago of all cities."
"Chicago suburbs actually. Ever hear of South Holland?"
"No, actually. Never met a soul in Hell that came from such a place. Then again, that'd imply I care to learn about those damned souls. You seem a bit tense, darling, is everything alright?"
"I'll be fine, Lucifer."
It's a quiet flight, well, as quiet as it can be with Lucifer by your side.
"You know, I could've flown us, and we'd be there in half the time."
"And what would we do with our luggage?"
"Darling, is it really too much of an ask to condense your suitcase into a carry on bag?"
"Coming from the man who I know wouldn't do the same, yes."
"Bitter, are we?"
"Just want to get this over with. They're not exactly the loving sort of family. I mean they were at one point, but I was really young at the time."
"You'll get through it, love. You're the strongest woman I know, carrying the weight without breaking."
After the long flight, you take a rental car from Midway Airport to your family's home in South Holland. As you step up onto the porch, you're hesitant, as if you were reliving your time spent here previously.
"There she is! Good to have you home, sweetie."
"You too, Booshia."
"Never told me you were Polish."
"Oh, and who's this handsome devil you've brought with you?"
"He's my fiance, Booshia."
"Lucifer Morningstar at your service. Pleasure to meet you, Booshia."
"Please, call me Rose."
"Rose, it is lovely to finally meet you. Y/n has told me so much about you."
"Well, not's let stand around inviting the moths in. Come inside, meet the family. I hear you're going to be part of it in a matter of months. Donnie, your daughter's here!"
"Lucifer, this is my dad. Dad, this is Lucifer; my fiance."
"He's better than the last guy. Put 'er there, son."
"Dad, that was nearly fifteen years ago. James is long in the past."
"I can see why you always speak so fondly of your father, darling."
"Sorry Dawn and Myracle couldn't make it."
"I'm not."
Your frustrated sigh went unnoticed.
"Dawn and Myracle, your stepmother and stepsister, right?"
"Yes."
"Well, who is this hottie?"
"Liz, this is Lucifer, my fiance. Lucifer, this is my little sister, Liz."
"Well it's about time. I thought you were going to die a virgin for a while there."
"It's about time she got out of her gay phase."
"Booshia, please, not this, please."
As the conversation transpired, Lucifer took note of the crucifixes, the prayers, the religious imagery spread throughout the house.
"Religious are you?"
"Catholic. Y/n, did you ever find a church in Los Angeles?"
"I told you before Booshia, I gave up on faith a long time ago."
"Which is exactly why you're going to end up in hell."
"No, my darling y/n is too much of an angel to walk among demons. And if hell is her destination, it will only be as my queen."
"Lucifer, please."
"What exactly do you mean by that? I thought you were a nightclub owner."
"The club's more like a hobby. My full time job though is the king of hell. Yes, I'm the devil."
"Yeah right, you were hotter before I knew you had a screw loose."
"You know what. You all enjoy dinner. C'mon Lucifer, we're going back to the hotel."
"Lovely meeting all of you, really."
"Lucifer!"
You got in the passenger seat of the rental car.
"Well, I think that went well."
"Well?! Lucifer, I had specifically asked you not to say anything about being the devil, and that's exactly what you do! I can't fucking believe you'd do shit like that."
"I'm sorry, darling. I was simply defending your honor. I knew you had said how bloody horrible your family was, but I wasn't going to watch them shame you this way."
"But did you have to tell them you're the devil?"
"Yes, to inspite fear."
"You're lucky I have trouble staying angry with you. And that I love you."
"And I'm still deepy sorry that I retaliated. With the way they were, it was hard to tell if it was my house or yours."
"Did you mean it though? When you said I'd be your queen?"
"Absolutely, of course I did, love."
The drive continued, light rain threatening to fall.
"I ever tell you how I ended up in L.A?"
"I don't believe I've had the pleasure of hearing that story, darling. Then again, I've never inquired."
"It was four or five years afyer my mom left, give or take. I was in and out with my addiction that I had spent the year preceeding her walking out to sober up. I had a girlfriend at the time, and well, Booshia threatened to disown me when she found out. I figured I'd speed up the process and leave, took Lily and myself to Vegas."
"Lily, that was your girlfriend I assume?"
"Nope, the cat. I broke things off with Maya before I left. Gave myself a fresh start."
"You must be hungry, darling. I believe I saw a diner on our way to the house earlier. Ah, here we are. And they serve breakfast all day."
Lucifer walked close beside you as you entered the diner, picking out an empty booth.
"What can I get for you?"
"Well I know the lovely lady will be having the Denver omlette, hold the onion, french toast and bacon on the side. I'll have the Athenian chicken, and then a Dr. Pepper for the lady and then a black coffee, lots of sugar."
You looked at the plates in a state of melancholia when they arrived, only taking a few bites here and there, mentiining how you'll probably need a to-go box to Lucifer.
"You can eat, darling. That sorry excuse of a family isn't here to tell you that you can't. Honestly, you must be famished love. Come to think I only saw you consume a couple of small snacks on the plane. Maybe a bag of crisps and a granola bar after we landed, but nothing to keep you sustained."
You took a few actual forkfuls more of your food, only having a few tbings to bring back to the hotel with you. The rain picked up when the drive resumed.
Lucifer parked the car in the hotel's parking garage. He came around after exiting the vehicle and opened your door.
"Let's get you inside, shall we?"
He carried you from the car to your hotel room bridal style.
"Now, care for some fun or more of a relaxing evening?"
"I just want to go to bed and forget any of tonight ever happened." You changed into a comfy sweatshirt and pair of gym shorts. Laid beside Lucifer, who was usually clad in red silken pajamas on calm nights like these.
"I just want you to know, we will not to be returning to the midwest anytime soon. I don't need your dreadful family dimming your spark on me."
Your lips curled up into a small smile.
"There's my cheeky lover. Now let's get some rest, darling."
