Basic info

Name: goes by Bard, original name to be revealed later

Prounous: They/them

Age: Old, they were 'blessed' by a god they helped and are now stuck roaming the earth singing songs and spreading stories.

Preferred instrument: Lyre or pendent ocarina

They can be a complete asshole at times and they have zero qualms digging up the past to hurt someone. They grew apathetic as they aged and watched their dearest friends die one by one.

But the one line they will not cross is children, they have a massive soft spot for kids.

General description of them:

Bard is large, built like a fridge, barrel chested and standing at about 6'5". They have purple hair and golden yellow eyes. Most of their freckles are covered by a massive burn scar that goes across their face.

They exclusively wear a pair of grey and green jester boots with bells on them. They always have their crescent moon lyre on them, a pendant ocarina around their neck, and rapier strapped to their right hip.

They also know Mando'a because I know Mando'a and I love using it.

Living in Gotham, you don’t necessarily worry when you see a member of the bat family because they probably have whatever they’re doing under control. You do, however, begin to feel somewhat concerned when you see a member of the Justice League who usually has enough good sense to stay out of the city. 

Haha anyway, on that note, anyone know why Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl are flying around the Otisburg area??

Words blur together under the pictures attached to them with a paperclip. The blood has blurred them. There's a photo printed onto the paper of a young boy in reds, yellows, and greens in lipstick. Smiling. Laughing. Ties to a chair, arching away from it. Another of that boy slumped over himself on clean, linoleum floors. Words pop out. Gas, dosage. Drugs. A bat of nails, a bucket of maggots. Blood drained by leeches. Beatings, blood, more and more gore. Ideas of removing an organ, replacing it with another. Neon green thread and doodles of little pink puppies in the margins. Rusty needles, reused, recycled. Little events referring to another sessiom. Talk of possibly letting R talk to The Bat on a phone. Talk of tossing that idea out. The man in green and purple bringing his friends over for tea time. So much speculation. What he thinks might be fun. A little drawing of Batman and The Joker kissing. What a joke to put next to a scrimble in blue pen about how they need to lower R's medication before he overdoses.

Knight stares, unflinchingly, at the photos. In the first one, he's smiling. Or not him. Jason. Jason is smiling. Because Jason's weak, so easily subdued, giggling from the euphoria of the drugs as his identity is stolen and worn like a thrifted suit, tossed among many until it's gone, frayed and nothing but scraps of dirty thread.

There were other rooms. Rats. Blood. Cleanliness, sometimes. The clean stopped when his blood began to stain it.

Maybe this is it, he thinks. What he's looking for. The pain and the bleeding and what was worth vomiting over. But he isn't sick.

Nails. They'd liked to use nails. He'd hoped the tetanus would kill him. Or the scurvy. Or the leeches, black and slimy. Immune to his revulsion, dimmed like a bulb as they made him crazy. The craziness. He doesn't act on it, but it's there. Buzzing behind the eyes, a parasite in his brain.

Are any of his organs still his? He can't remember. Surely he lost a few, back then. A lung. A liver? Gone. Medicine, the pills. Swallowed down with a meal of mystery meat and still water and rotten, molding fruit.

He stares at the photos, at the writing. He doesn't blink. Is this what he's looking for?
