Fashioned by hand from found objects such as hockey sticks, skis and broken furniture, Salvatore Scarpitta recreates the concept of the Northern sled in "Cot and Lock Step n. 2 Cargo," 1989/2000. To Scarpitta it represented solitary, nomadic travel; part of a long-running series of works featuring sleds and wrapped elements as expressions of risk, movement, death and rebirth.
