Celebrate Black History Month at Richland College, Feb. 6-Mar. 5
Celebrate Black History Month, with events happening now through March 5. These free events are sponsored by the 2020 Black History Month Committee, made up of the Black Student Association, Office of Student Life, African-American Connection and Equity Richland.
The schedule is as follows:
Feb. 6 at 12:30 p.m.: “How They See Us: Brown Bag Discussion” in SH117, hosted by the African-American Connection.
Feb. 13 at 12:30 p.m.: “How We Show Up: Professional Networking Workshop” in E090, hosted by Corporate Executive Consultant, Black Student Association, Career and Technical Education and Career Services.
Feb. 20 at 12:30 p.m.: “Transforming Pain into Purpose: A Conversation with Lavinia Masters” in SH117, hosted by the Black Student Association, Equity Richland and the Office of Student Life.
Feb. 22 at 10 a.m.: “Birmingham: An Epiphany Experience,” in the Richland College Garland Campus gallery. This event will feature Dale Long, a survivor of the 1963 church bombing in Birmingham, AL, and Delores Elder-Jones, who was near the location of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination in 1968 and is a Richland retiree.
Feb. 25 at 12:30 p.m.: “When They See Us: Film Discussion” in SH118, hosted by the Black Student Association and Equity Richland.
March 5 at 12:30 p.m.: “Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education Conference” at Hilton Doubletree Hotel Farmers Branch, hosted by the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education.
