Last Weekend at the Beach

For my last weekend at the beach for the season, I kept things casual and made the most of a cloudy weekend with a little window shopping and walk around town.  This “new” thrifted dress has quickly become a new favorite and I just can’t get enough of this new bag!  I mean, can you believe it’s from Old Navy?!  The color and quality are amazing and it is the perfect bag to make the transition from summer to fall.

Girls’ Night Out

I know this probably doesn’t look like your usual “girls’ night out” outfit, but since becoming an Aunt (twice!) nights out in general have been few and far between.  While this girls’ night out was definitely not a wild night on the town, just a quiet dinner, it was especially fun because our new little friend came with us!  She was so good and she even wore her own thrifted dress!  A present from her Aunt Sally, of course. 💕

P.S. Can you tell this is my favorite new hairstyle?  Good thing I was so inspired by Me Before You!

A Day At The Beach

It’s kind of funny that I titled this post “A Day At The Beach” because the weather hasn’t really been cooperating enough to be able to spend a day on the beach lately.  Fortunately though, it decided to cooperate just in time for an early evening photo shoot in my fave new comfy dress.  Seriously, this dress is the best.  I bought it and immediately came home and popped it on.  Not only is the swingy shape perfect for hot summer nights, but the fabric is so soft!  While I don’t make all of my fashion decisions based on comfort, this one is so comfy it’s a total no-brainer.  

P.S. Seriously, how beautiful does this beach look?!  Fingers crossed for a nice beach day tomorrow!

I have to admit it, in the summer I am all. about. comfort.  Each year I pack for my summer at the beach and bring all sorts of cute clothes that I plan to wear, but never end up wearing.  In the heat and humidity I just keep reaching for the same breathable fabrics and loose silhouettes...and that’s exactly why I love these shorts!  While I’m usually more of a dresses kind of girl, with shorts this comfy I’m willing to switch things up! :)

Marathon Mondays

Well, marathon training season has officially begun!  After much convincing, my sister has agreed to run the Marine Corps Marathon with me one more time, and we have already successfully completed the first three weeks of training.  Despite the heat and humidity (and the fact that running and I took a loooong break after my first pass at the Marine Corps Marathon) training is going well!  I might be singing a different tune after I have to run 9 miles next weekend, but for now I’m pretty happy with the progress I’m making so far.  After all, slow and steady wins the race, right?  Check out the breakdown for the first three weeks of training below.

Week #1:

Monday - 3 miles

Wednesday - 3 miles

Thursday - 3 miles

Saturday - 6 miles

Week #2:

Monday - 3 miles

Wednesday - 3 miles

Thursday - 3 miles

Okay, so I didn’t quite meet my goal of three posts per week this week, but I’m still getting back into the swing of things, I’ll get there!  At least I’m back with another outfit post!  While it might seem as though this outfit is a sponsored post for Old Navy, it isn’t.  I just love Old Navy!  It’s always one of my first stops when the seasons change and I need to stock up on some cute essentials.  While I wouldn’t really call a white linen flutter sleeve sundress an essential, I would definitely call it cute! :)

Happy 4th of July and welcome back to D.C. Diva on a Dime!!  I’ve missed posting lately, but life has been VERY exciting!!  The school year has ended, I finished my first year of grad school, I started training to run the Marine Corps Marathon a second time, and I became an Aunt...TWICE!!  That’s right, I have TWO new babies in my life!  A little boy (my brother’s baby) and a little girl (my sister’s baby).  If you follow me on Instagram you’ve already seen some pretty adorable snaps of these two, and you will definitely be seeing many more in the future!! 

Since this summer is sure to be a little different given my new duties as an Aunt, I’ll probably be posting about 3 times a week.  Marathon Mondays on Monday, a new outfit post on Wednesday, and Friday Favorites on Friday (and maybe I’ll throw in a Thrifty Thursdays if the mood strikes!)  Hey, if I can pull that off it will already be more than I posted this year! 🙈  I missed Marathon Mondays this week, but I promise to get you all caught up next week.  For now, enjoy my white and blue 4th of July ensemble.  And check Instagram tomorrow for a peek at how I added at least a little red to this look!

Spring Break Style - Part 5

Well, here we finally have it.  My last post from spring break...two months ago!! 😂  I don’t know where this year went, but now I’m only 3.5 weeks away from summer break!  Before we both know it, I’ll be back at the beach posting more warm weather looks in the sand.  But until then, and until this rainy weather clears out, I’ll just keep looking back at these pictures and feeling nice and warm. 😎
