// I don’t really post my music on here often but I made this theme for @dcnetheimpossible bc Rion is The Best(tm) and has been helping through a really rough time lately. Also I wanted to get back into the swing of composing things from scratch, and what better way to do that then by making a theme for one of his amazing characters?

     “But it’s going to keep hurting until then.. Can’t I help?”

     Uncertainty, reluctance, pain, distrust. She could feel all of these things from him, like cold radiating from a block of ice. It was noticeable, but not burning. He was physically hurt, as well as emotionally. The outside wound was fresh, sharp, and messy. The internal one was healing, but slowly, and can be opened up again if she wasn’t careful.

     “You don’t have to be afraid of me. I don’t hurt people. I don’t want to. I want to keep the hurt away.”

“What if it’s a raccoon with a knife?” she was pressed against the window, a little circle around her mouth and nose fogging and clearing with her breath. She shivered, peering into the front yard, looking for whatever it could have been. “Oh, by the dreadwolf,” she cursed. “I can’t see for shit. We need floodlights or something.” She craned her neck, stood on tip toes, and squinted-- but nothing. She was too short for this job.

   gods, it’s nice to meet someone who understands that she has an attitude problem, and doesn’t expect her to just – get over it. there’s a certain amount of distrust that’s healthy, and while she might be over the line, it’s nice to meet someone who doesn’t expect her to open up to her immediately. much better than the little blue tiefling that the monk traveled with, at least.   running a hand through thick hair, the sorceress shrugged, looking up at the sky – the silence isn’t nearly as awkward as it could’ve been, and she appreciated it. “ — so. the mighty nein? is that what they called all of you? that’s uh – you guys have a troupe name? “

“Uh, I mean...” What is she supposed to say? Maybe it’s a dumb name (it’s not, and fuck anyone who says otherwise), but she’s grown fond of it over time. She’s learned to own it. Maybe, possibly, she’s a little proud of it.

“Well, listen. It’s ironic. It’s an aesthetic. You gotta respect it, y’know? ‘Cause there’s not actually nine of us, and it’s also Zemnian for ‘no.’ It’s...it’s cool. It’s fine.”

“I couldn’t agree more,” Nelras groaned.  The spiders seemed neverending, and the cave was creepy enough without them.  Nelras shivered, the frost magic he emitted only worsening the cold.  “Let’s find the damn relic the damn thieves hid, and then just set off some Antivan fire as we leave.  Just torch the place.”

His boots squelched questionably as he moved, and Nelras realized he was probably going to have to burn his clothes when they got back to camp.
