“someone drew a what now?!” sam exclaimed as he groaned, jumping out of bed despite the slight headache. he walked to the mirror and sighed. “james buchanan barnes! you fucking did this, didn’t you? don’t lie to me. i’m gonna kill you!” he said before picking up a nearby wash clothing and dousing it in water and soap and attempting to scrub the drawing off his face.

“well, if you wanted a midnight kiss, you should’ve stopped me after my sixth drink,” clint mumbled as he snaked his arms around matt’s middle, resting his pounding head against his partner’s chest, which left him practically crouching considering their height difference, with matt being 5′10″ and clint being 6′3″. just at that thought he could already hear matt’s correction of his height - ‘5′10.5″! ’, he’d said in the past. clint had just laughed and rolled his eyes playfully. “but i kept drinking and passed out before i could kiss you. you probably didn’t want that kiss anyway - i was fucked from the moment your angry friend in the leather jacket started asking for absinthe. you really wanna kiss someone with absinthe breath?” he teased, before he straightened up to look at matt. “i’ll make it up to you. plus, the first thing i did when i got up was brush my teeth, so...” he laughed before he cupped matt’s cheek, giving him a gentle kiss.

janet paused, unsure what to do. while it was one of her top priorities to make sure her group of humans were safe and happy, sometimes happy and health did not quite go together. “all the knowledge i have suggests that catching up on sleep is a concept with no factual basis and won’t actually help you in the long run.” she stated, standing over eleanor cheerfuly looking down as she tried to convince the blonde to get up. “you’d be much better off waiting and staying on a regular sleep schedule.” and that, that’s what made things difficult, because did janet stick with what eleanor would want, or what she should do? it was complications janets were never quite meant to experience, but she was more than just a janet at this point, and could learn to handle things beyond her typical programming. “a quick nap would probably be alright. would you like for me to come and get you again in twenty minutes?”

Only waking up with his sleepy face, Kaz let out a deep sigh of despair at Nina’s words. God, people didn’t know they shouldn’t touch him ever, did they? “And whiskers on yours.” He just mumbled, waking up being quite difficult right now. “Something tells me that might be Inej. That she would consider me as a dickhead makes sense but I don’t see the cute kitten in you.” He shrugged. “You’re more like.. A really annoying, dangerous fire tiger.” It was probably the headache talking instead of him. Lord, he must have drink a lot to be that hungover.

karolina was, well she was inside again. the second she stepped back into the constricted air she missed the gardens, but if she stayed out there like this she was sure she would wind up taking a nap in the grass. outside though, it had felt like the alcohol was making things better, like it was allowing her shoulders to relax and for her to actually breath, here, it was so much worse. she was swaying slightly as she made her way back to the main room. there was a perpetual frown on her face as she watched the couples dancing. why had she come to this? because her mom expected to her, sure, but how long could she keep doing everything out of expectation? why couldn’t she come to an event like this and enjoy it like everyone else? the next day she would definitely blame her movement on the alcohol. without it she definitely would have stood and sulked for the whole night like a decently socially adjusted human being. instead she walked straight up to a stranger.

“dance with me?” at it’s core it was a plea. she didn’t care about dancing, would almost definitely be awful at it like this, but she just needed a sense of normalcy, a sense that she was normal. she could walk up to a guy and convince him to dance and she could enjoy it. sure, if she genuinely wanted to have fun she shouldn’t have picked a guy as her target, but karolina told herself that maybe if she was just a little more forceful about it it would be fine. “just one song, promise.” her eyes were wide, a half-assed imitation of the flirting she’d seen plenty of girls do. she knew she could pull it off too, just never had any desire to, not with guys anyway. “i’ll just feel silly if i came to this thing and don’t get to dance at all.
