It’s my taper weekend 😀. That means housework and cleaning out the closets. In the back I found @marinecorpsmarathon Shirts from 1997 and 1998. Next weekend is officially my 19th consecutive marathon, since the paper trail starts at 1999 per MCM records, I’m bad with keeping track of the number of races I’ve done. I thought it was 98, but didn’t save medals, unless it’s hidden in a box in basement. If I do find 1998 medal or photo, they will update the 1998 run. Last week I received my first pair of #xeroshoes Cloud Sandals and I decided to wear them for a whole day while in Philadelphia. I was a little uneasy and with a slight embarrassment to my face. I am no stranger to minimalist running, but have not done so in a few years since my Achilles injury. Today I decided to take them for a test drive and set myself upon a 3 mile course. I am glad to say that I only noticed a 17 second drop per mile from yesterday's run of the same distance. It was all good after I got used to the click-clack sound that my sandals made and everyone looking at me puzzled. May 2016 Adventure Run with my MRTT sisters, Road Runner Sports in Falls Church.

I’ve decided to revive my sweet little blog to help chronicle my journey to my first 26.2. I deferred my Marine Corps Marathon entry from last year to this year due to injury after injury. After ramping up my mileage, qualifying for Half Fanatics, and a couple of rounds of PT, I’m ready to go again.

Week 1 is now complete. Mileage: 10.7 

Week 2 has commenced and I’m at 6.7 miles 2 days in. Send good vibes.

This morning, I joined my MRTT sisters in running 3.7 miles for the fighting, for the fallen, and for the families. wear blue:run to remember organized an excellent community run in Springfield, VA this morning.
