The Alchemist, a new way of well-being...

Astranging, beautiful, poetic and yet sterile... thesis project * ' The Alchemist' by Nina van Bart can't be captured in one word.

It's a trend forecast, a short film for the wellness industry. It shows a new approach to body care and beauty treatments. In short: "Our bathroom will turn into a laboratory and we will turn into alchemists."

Why? The last few years our life has been pretty hectic. In the face of the economic crisis - there it is again - we find ourselves wondering what really matters in life. Taking care of ourselves, spending our time with dedication and mindfulness  and thereby intensifying the experience of well being. We chose to take better care of ourselves." says Nina.

In the new lab-bathroom you will go on a quest to the ultimate sense of wellbeing. You will make your own beauty products in a new and experimental way, by tranforming and altering liquids, powders and minerals.

so had a great time at dutch design week! it was the first time i met other designers who are using 3dprinting to realise their dreams. talked with people about design, technology, solutions, the future, my designs i had on display at the shapeways booth, it was really cool. thanks everyone who made it great :)

still using most of my design time for clients, can't complain about the diversity of work; from mathematical art, figurines, to fashion accessoires and even a very avant-garde piece i have the pleasure of working on. wish i could show any of these projects but that really is not possible :)

i bought a gem; a morganite for my solitaire ring. i really needed a stone before i could finish the design. the photograph really doesn't do the stone justice. 

also im in need of more dropbox space, thinking about running my own cloud again in the future...

Sleep Over

Lisa Lagemaat showed here "Sleep Over" products at the Graduation show 2013. It is a collection of comfortable bags which allows you to take a little nap, anywhere you want. The bags are made of cosy/soft material and have a form which makes you want to cuddle the bag. Now your bag is save and you can take a little nap.

So, basically it's a product that encourages you to sleep, when en wherever you want. I think this is a good thing. We are constantly working, moving from place to place and we are forgetting how important sleep is. Sleeping doesn't have a good image. If someone asks you what you are going to do and you answer with; I am going to stay at home and will go to bed early. They will look at you like your'e weird and a little bit boring. I sound dramatic, but its true. It's not cool to sleep. I hope these products will change the bad image of sleeping. It is okay to take a nap and not be social and not be working on your career.
