BANANA MANDALA GOTY 2020
This week’s stream is postponed until Monday due to holiday scheduling concerns! Instead, it is my privilege to present the TOP SIX GAMES OF 2020. It says on my Backloggery that I played through 70 games this year, but these are the ones that were truly fresh with it (i.e released in 2020). Two of them were techincally released in 2019. And here they are, roughly ranked in ascending order of obscurity. Please enjoy and consider giving small games a shot.
Dead Function
An RPG Maker MV title from indie dev Kill Idol, inspired by Mother 3 etc. Outstanding character design and expressive sprite work. Fuck around in a graveyard and encounter half a dozen demons straight from the Ars Goetia! I was going to highlight this with an individual post in light of the subject matter but I done plum forgot, so I'll just lead here with this sweet Paimon. They’re all at least this good, too!
Brave Dog's Road
Very brief proof-of-concept from up-and-coming developer... Shawn. This shit has some cute sprite work and it's only 15 minutes long. Possibly better than Brave Story: New Traveler, which I'll play at some point because they used the Dark Cloud font for the US release. (I wrote this bit during my lunch break while misremembering the name as “Brave Dog’s Story”).
Pocketman Third D
Cool, surreal Pokemon sendup from developer bynine. The humor is not as broad as the name would suggest. Really glad more indies are busting out the faux-retro polygonal aesthetic. Sparsely textured low-poly models make my endochrine system fucking flip, and this game is lousy with the stuff. Every game in 2021 should look like Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.
Witcheye
Witcheye is OK. Technically a 2019 release, but only ported to PC this year. Really cute sprite work. You could honestly put whatever bullshit in front of me and I'll play it so long as it has, like, a nicely dithered tree or whatever.
Raji
I haven't finished this yet and won't until we stream it again next year, but Raji is also not bad. I ate thin mints into the mic while we were playing it last time. Not a great call.

Dead Function is a game about a cemetery overrun with the undead. You play as Lil Brick, an amateur producer and part-time psychic, trying to run them out!
