I can't feel your bones but I can see them, and I can't call you up without a reason. I can take a thousand miles and I can drive for hours to your house in the summer. But I could stay for longer if you wanted me to.

Now, Now - Dead Oaks
I can’t call you up without a reason
On Now, Now’s sophomore album Threads (2012), Cacie Dalager sings coming-of-age stories rife with intense emotions. With a straightforward downstroke riff and effortless vocal blend, “Dead Oaks” depicts feeling nervous in a relationship and longing to be closer. After opening for acts such as Paramore and The Naked and Famous in the past, Now, Now are on hiatus but are set to play SXSW in 2017.
Dalager discussed her lyrical themes with Interview Magazine: "I think some of [the songs on Threads] were about, just in general, trying to feel connected and feeling disconnect. Just trying to get back to a feeling that you once had, or just wanting to see how something felt before whatever events happened. Whether it's something that's happening in a personal relationship or death, just wanting to feel connected.”

Oh oh oh oh oh I've been up
And oh oh I don't sleep enough
And oh oh I know we don't talk as much
But I can hear
Your voice on the phone
When you're up all alone
In your room
Cause I am up too
