16. Talk about a ship you initially disliked.
In Mana Khemia, the couple Roxis/Pamela bothered me for a while. More than it should have. He’s afraid of her he’s afraid of ghosts in general lol. She makes it very clear that she’s disinclined to him and needs to let him down immediately when the ruse that he has a crush on her comes out.* And the only time he expresses a romantic interest in her and attempts to pursue her, it’s the result of something she’s done(?) that’s affecting half the students and not genuine interest on his part.
*Spoiler for one of his character quests, Flay and the Mana of Light (Roxis’ mana) conspire to make him miserable for their entertainment. This is a common theme in Roxis’ character quests, his mana is a petty asshole. |D And in this particular one, Flay’s told everyone else in the workshop that Roxis has a crush on Pamela and they need to encourage him to talk about his feelings. So they send Vayne to pry. Ultimately, when Pamela catches wind of it, she shoots him down for his supposed feelings in front of everyone in the guys’ dorm lobby and Roxis gets flustered because he’s so fucking confused and everyone is watching.
I don’t know if this is a hiccup in translation, if in the japanese language version they were/had proper potential to be a thing via either actual words or the undertones of the words that were lost in the english version, but it just always came off as a whole lot of shoving the same polar end of two magnets together and watching them consistently resist each other.
It took me a while to admit that yeah, okay, maybe it could work. That their dynamic is actually fun. And, although they’re not my favorite for chemistry, they’re my favorite Mana Khemia ship aesthetically. I love their aesthetics individually, and their color schemes together, and even before I got past my dislike of the ship, I liked fanart of them together. :’D30. Name a couple of fandoms in which you have no ships. Mushi-shi, which has few recurring characters. idk there are a few small ones I can’t name off the top of my head, but nah man I love me some ships. (Oh, there’s one, Off.) Also MLP:FiM and Bubble Guppies. e.e;;
