Here have a Deadlands Hell on Earth Gretchen concept.

Setting is like 2094 post-apocalypse.

Gretchen's been Harrowed (undead) for over 200 years at this point and believes due a major delusion that the bombs reset the world back to the 1880s.

‘Aged’ Walther, the evil manitou that tempted and manipulated Gretchen as a child into causing horrible incidents. He tried to have Gretchen die when she destroyed the town’s mining camp. But she survived when her parents found her laughing and dancing while the fire was burning. 

Afterwards for many years he stayed silent, but when Gretchen moved to America he “woke” up when she found a substance called ghost rock.  He died as a child and has only ‘aged’ due to his attachment to Gretchen. He is the whispers in her ear at night, inspiring her to create even more destructive devices. He wishes to drive her mad while also causing as much chaos as possible before her death.

Romano's player: Gretchen killed like 20 soldiers with a single giant grenade blast last session!

Doc Johnson's player: But they shot first.

Me: Yeah! It was self defense! It was excessive but still!

Deadlands Session 9/7/17

Holy fucking shit tonight’s session was crazy.

Mention-able moments from tonight:

Gretchen and Doc Johnson got together in Doc’s office to start working on schematics and designs for Gretchen’s future augmented forearm.

Gretchen got to blow up a grain barn that before the posse killed them all had weird undead creatures as a precaution. But really Gretchen just used that as an excuse to blow up something big. The Marshal had me roll an attack roll cause he wanted to see if I would roll snake eyes (a crit fail aka her device blows up)

Steve Lux, our half-Native American huckster almost died due to get shot the fuck up by Mexican workers being controlled by I. Caramba but he managed to heal himself with a healing tonic. 

Really OP Mexican magic user (i think huckster???) Inglesias Caramba blasted Romano with 3 bolts (magic attacks) and incapacitated him. So Romano had to keep rolling death saves. Would have actually died if he hadn’t pulled a Black Fate Chip which he used to reroll the his crit failed death save.

And because he came from from dying he had to take a permanent injury which was rolled randomly and happened to be his left arm

Romano’s left arm is pretty much unusable now. Which is very very bad considering he is a dual fighting with a rapier in his right hand and fancy retractable claws that retract into a box that attaches his left arm.

So Gretchen had been looking into augments already so she is going to talk to him about taking a trip down to Salt Lake City so he can get augmented left arm from Smith and Robards. Which won’t be too hard considering he actually needs it (SnR only does augments for those that NEED it) and Romano has a pretty good Persuasion stat (you have to roll Persuasion at -2 to be moved to the top of the operation list).

And Gretchen will more than likely have to roll to find either Dr. Gash or save up more and roll to find Nurse Rachet and have either of them do the unnecessary augment on her right forearm.

OOC after session

Romano’s creator made the comment of “If Romano had died I would’ve had to make my Irish fist fighter but I can’t make him alone without your Irish violinist Mary. So Gretchen would either have to die or go away.” Me: (jokingly) Gretchen runs off and moves to Salt Lake City. Roomie: Gretchen gets more augments, goes more insane, and shows up later in the campaign as a villian. Me: Omg pls no my precious
