Deadly Rhythms 2nd Birthday Selections
As the Deadly Rhythm crew gear up to celebrate their 2nd anniversary of Glasgow parties Tonight we’ve asked the residents to knock their heads together and dig deep into their collections to give us a taste of what makes Deadly so special. For those that missed it, catch up on Raksha’s exclusive Deadly Rhythm mix for that extra birthday hype .
Ahead of tonight, get familiar with this top 5 Deadly Rhythm classics from their main man Alexsi...
1. 5 Mob - Panic Stations
This is a tune that kinda brought us together at Subcity as a common ground, we had all heard it on Oneman's Boiler Room set from a while back and Asbo's reaction cemented it into us. We rarely get to play it out as its pretty mental but its one we keep in our 'eclectic garage' crate and constantly reminisce about.
2. 2562 - Aquatic Family Affair
2562 was the starting point for Deadly in Glasgow, he had played for us a few times in London and we are all big fans of his. He was on his Fever LP tour and luckily we got him to play at our first party here. This is one of our favourite tunes from the album so we had to put it in.
3. Levon Vincent- Speck's Jam
This was a highlight from last year when Levon played for us, it was just before NS07 came out. He played a blinder of a 3 hour set and dropped this in to everyones delight.
4. Aquarian Dream - Phoenix
The first time we did an Eglo Records takeover Nelson Mandela Place was held hostage by a gun scare, we spent all day looking for an alternative venue and luckily we got to have the party in a hotel basement. It was such reliefs to have the party go ahead that this tune made everyone feel amazing. I think it got encored 3 times that night.
5. Metallica - Master of Puppets
This tune symbolises one of the most memorable moments at Deadly and is a homage to our crowd. Having jumped back on the decks when the lights went up, Krystal Klear dropped this and the everyone totally went for it, having gone from an hour of bouncing to Samiyam, to all out moshing and crowd-surfing. Its nice when you see people going for it without an attitude, just having pure fun. It's probably one of the best things about our crowd.
