she's between sets right now , some old school song twanging through the bar's jukebox speakers as rosie perches on a barstool . her guitar still slung around her back like a safety blanket , her legs swing back & forth as she sips her margarita . ' now i ain't no carrie underwood , ' right now she's just a girl from a farming town with a dream & her daddy's old guitar , ' but man , when i hear people singin along with my songs it makes me feel like a superstar . ' dreamy lilt to her words may give away the fact that it doesn't happen that often , but before she hopped offstage for a break a couple of drunk girls had slurred the melody of rosie's song along with her . she's still riding that high at the moment , even though the girls were regulars and therefore somewhat a captive & expected audience .

"You're really tall," she squints. Not real, not very. Her lack of an accent sounds like an accent, here.

Standing at over six and a half feet tall, Spirit's brother Harris — whom Wyatt may know from Harris' dealings with the sheriff —is perhaps the only person taller than Wyatt in the entire town.

Spirit and her siblings have been here for a week, now. Their presence is well known — due to their oddity as strangers alone and also due to the mixed-matched nature of their so-called "family:" three white people who look nothing alike and bear little personality traits in common, an Indian man who glowers and cracks his knuckles and doesn't have much kind to say, a small Latina girl who neither speaks nor hears. No possible relation between the five exists, yet Spirit exists the girl at the counter begging for a shop counter gig is her flesh-and-blood sister.

"How did you get so tall?" she asks the man. She has not introduced herself.

" this is so kind of you. thank you, really. " unpredictable weather is one of the many things she didn't have to worry about in another life. she's learned that she likes rain. loves it, even. but the wind is another beast entirely. & when the trees struggle to hold onto their roots, the best decision to make is to find shelter & not challenge mother nature, even if that might make her cut it a little close to her next show. that's not to say she's not immensely bothered by the wrench thrown into her schedule, but in this world, there's such thing as safety first, much to her annoyance. still, all she had was a van full of instruments & three other people as confused & stressed as her as they drove through unknown territory. she's almost certain they made a wrong turn somewhere. they'd stopped near a ranch, the first she's ever seen up close, hoping to spot someone that could at least point them in the direction of a motel or a bar – anything that is not a tiny metal box with easily breakable windows. little did she know a kind stranger would pass by just then, rushed & clearly trying to get home before it starts pouring down too badly. for once, she was perfectly okay with someone taking pity on her. " we'll be out of your hair as soon as it clears up. " she wears a grateful smile now, fingers running through soaking wet hair draped across one shoulder. nose scrunches upwards just a little. " sorry, ugh – i feel like a wet rat. "

even. it has never been a concept that vincent particularly enjoys within their professional pursuits; he'd always required a sense of leverage over all of whom he'd dedicated his time to, a little snippet of vital information that kept his subjects pledged to his ordinance. without such a thing, vincent found that he (and others) had little loyalty; far too many men were in this line for their own profits, himself included. pawns had been increasingly difficult to find in the past year or so, by which term he meant individuals who were content to make a pretty penny to just stand at his side. to get what vincent required of them, the marquis had to rid them of ambition completely, shrink their worth until he had them right where he wanted them. wyatt was a harder target. from what he proposed to the marquis, it seemed that he wanted to dip in and out of this lifestyle at his leisure. and, perhaps more annoyingly so, did it seem that he wanted to oscillate without any kind of consequence. that was something vincent couldn't allow, regardless of his esteem for the gentleman; if he granted it to wyatt, he would need to grant it to every other man who showed signs of cold feet.
