its always deaf bakugou and never Deaf bakugou 💔
Partially deaf Bakugou Katsuki being an asshole
You meet through your cousin Kirishima during a family get together, you already knew who he was but never had the chance to speak to him.
And you probably won’t want to try again, not after finding out he’s been taking out his hearing aids every time you talk.
“Your voice is annoying, and you talk about dumb shit”
That’s what he says to you when you confront him about it.
And it doesn’t end there, he doesn’t even look at you or try to read your lips to show some respect. You can’t believe this guy is friends with your cousin, sweet loving Eijirou.
You get in a few heated discussions about politics and hero work, those are the only times when he’s putting his hearing aids back on. Just to be able to point out where you’re wrong.
You see each other again more often after that first encounter, much to your disgrace. Kirishima insists on inviting you over for movie nights with his friends.
Bakugou complains about your movie choice and spends the rest of the night being a deaf idiot. Everyone is laughing at the screen while he’s curled up in the corner of the couch, munching on some garlic bread with a scowl adorning his face. They didn’t even put subtitles on for him! Not that he needs them, he doesn’t care about the film.
Every time you think that’s as stubborn as he can get he surprises you. He makes it a habit to take his hearing aids off whenever you’re in the same room, he avoids your look when he speaks and he makes sure to be extra loud with whatever he’s doing when it’s your time to talk, he doesn’t want others to hear your annoying voice as well.
It makes you mad, wanting to pull his hair until his scalp is bleeding. But he’s your cousin’s best friend so you can’t. Also you might find him slightly attractive, but just that, it’s not like you like him. You could never, he’s a huge dick-probably has one too- and he’s mean to you! So nope, no feelings.
One day he’s over at your aunts’ place helping make dinner, hearing aids ran out of battery during his last patrol and hasn’t been able to buy new ones. Your aunts are talking in the living room and they start asking him questions, but he’s not answering. So, you go into the kitchen to chastise him for being rude to the sweet ladies until you realize he can’t hear any of you.
You manage to catch his attention by standing in his way, god does he hate to share space while he’s cooking. There’s a trace of an ugly face beginning to show but it’s quickly replaced by confusion. You’re talking to him, with your hands. You’re signing. You know sign language. What. The. Fuck.
Before he can process what is going on he’s being told to respectfully hurry the fuck up so he can join your aunties and fill them in on the latest hero gossip.
He stands there in the middle of the kitchen, bowl in hand and knife in the other. There’s lots of people who know sign language, this is just a coincidence, they probably took classes while in uni. I’ve never seen them sign before though, and they’re not that good at it so this might be new. Or not. Why would they take a sign language class? I’m just imagining things. Hm. Even if I’m not it’s not that impressive, they’d probably be doing it just to spite me. No other reason.
He wonders if the hit to the head he received while at work is getting to him, cause suddenly you’re looking very pretty during dinner.
Bakugou Katsuki x gn!reader
TW: MENTIONS OF ED, just mentions of reader having a hard time eating around large groups of people, anxious behavior, fidgeting and just general discomfort when food and people are involved.
a/n: this is very self indulgent but I wanted to write Bakugou with an extroverted reader who deals with anxiety and food in a different way than the ones usually showed? Idk if it makes sense but one of the reasons why It took me so long to realize I had a problem with eating was because of how ed were represented in the media (also the lack of education and it being kinda taboo) so idk if you feel like this just know you’re not alone and it’s okay to ask for help <3
(also Bakugou is partially deaf in this fic)
Bakugou isn’t good at talking feelings. He’s never been. He doesn’t know how to put into words what’s going on inside his little pea brain and neither is he good at listening to others’ problems. But as he grows older he learns to trust people a bit more, lets his friends help him out and actually seeks out help when needed. He pays attention to the ones he loves and tries his best to be a good friend. He still isn’t good at it, but he tries.
He’s the first one to notice though. Like I’ve said he’s not a good talker but he is really aware of his surroundings. Everyone pictures him as a loud bastard with anger issues, but the first shared meals during lunch break at your shared hero agency prove otherwise. Everyone’s chatting animatedly, trying to make new friends and asking dumb questions he doesn’t want to answer. He stays silent, munching on his food while you talk and talk and talk until he ends up ripping his hearing aids off.
The pro-hero takes in the scene unfolding before him, around ten young adults gathered around the tiny table, all eyes on you as you move your hands and talk about god knows what, he can’t hear you.
It becomes a habit of his, joining the team in a temporary deaf state. He could just easily switch places with Kento or Salim, but he’s too stubborn to let your loudass affect him.
So he stays there, in his undesignated but still designated lunch seat. And he may not be able to hear, but he observes.
He notices how even though your hands move fast and steady, facial gestures comically accompanying the story you’re telling, your leg won’t stop bouncing up and down under the table.
He realizes that every time someone else gets the table’s attention and you catch him staring, the first thing you do is smile and tie your hair up. Then the attention is back on you and your hands are flying, almost stabbing him in the eye with the fork you’re holding, only to be put down once people stop looking.
You let your hair down.
You put your hair up again.
You laugh and talk. And talk. And talk.
Your plate is still filled with food.
You laugh and talk. You let your hair down. You grab a strand and twist it between your fingers.
You eat. He lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding in. You eat a little more. You laugh.
Eventually he realizes it’s all a show. Everyone talks, but you’re the one who gets most of the attention. You’re funny and interesting, people love hearing you talk and you love it when they listen to you. Especially when it’s you they focus on.
Your facial expressions are exaggerated, goofy, he finds it irritating. They’re looking at your face, your voice loud and clear hypnotizing them, it’s like they’re in a trance. There’s so much going on he can’t understand how these people aren’t feeling dizzy like he is. So he looks somewhere else.
You catch him looking at your food a few times, he’s not so sure if your smile is supposed to be friendly or if you’re begging for him to stop.
You eat. He knows that because he’s been keeping an eye on you. You do it alone, waiting till the very last minute of every meal break, once very few people are left at the table.
They don’t comment on it, the ones that do receive a lazy ass excuse from you.
“Oh don’t worry! I’ve always been a slow eater!”
“Yeah I know, I’m a talker so this is common for me!”
“It’s okay you don’t need to stay! I’ll be done in a bit go ahead!”
You’re not exactly lying, but it’s not the entire truth either.
He has seen you getting all fidgety when any sort of plans involving food are brought up during Friday nights.
He’s there when people won’t stop coming in and out of the break area, eyes looking around nervously as you finally give up on your lunch.
Katsuki knows. So he tries to help.
He’s not good at talking about his feelings, but for someone who talks as much as you do it seems stupid how little you’re actually able to say out loud.
He starts asking you to stay back during lunch breaks, it’s just that he needs your help with some paper work he couldn’t finish in time. You say yes and the plan begins.
Not even five minutes into the past due essay, he’s already pulling his bento out of his bag and setting his feet on top of his desk. He hopes you get the message and join him. You do.
And Bakugou is surprised. Not only are you eating but you’re doing it without bouncing your leg, or tapping your fingers, or playing with your hair, you’re not even talking. He tries not to stare, but his eyes are set on your face and how your nose scrunches up when you start reading what he’s written so far.
He’s obsessed with how cute you look with your hamster like cheeks, regretting having taken such a big bite out of your sandwich. You’re trying to criticize his work but you can’t talk with your mouth full, so you raise your hand and signal him to wait a second till you’re finished eating. You really are a slow eater. He laughs.
Once you’re done and start explaining to him what is wrong with the text showing on the screen, he stops listening. He’s worried he laughed too hard and made you feel self conscious, he doesn’t want you to feel uncomfortable when eating around him. He calms down as he sees you taking a second bite out of the sandwich. Everything’s fine.
Katsuki keeps finding ways to get you to spend meal time with him, far from your loud coworkers. He still hasn’t talked to you about it, but he can tell eating with a big group of people makes you nervous.
It is fine if it’s just you two, maybe a few other people too but that’s your limit. He makes a mental note to stop staring at you.
You know what he’s doing, and you appreciate it. By the next month most of your meals are shared with the hero, sometimes other people join you and you find it okay. Katsuki always sends you questioning looks as if he’s checking on you, asking if you’d rather leave or not. A simple smile is enough to ease his worries.
There still are hard days, when you can’t really get much past your throat and you feel like shit. Days when you just can’t say no to a group outing, going out for drinks, celebrating someone’s birthday.
Some days Katsuki leaves small treats on top of your desk, others he lets you be. It’s nice, he doesn’t push you and he doesn’t ask, but somehow he understands.
Katsuki knows you’re fine, you can deal with this. He learns you’ve been doing it for a while now, but knew environments are always hard and it takes some time getting used to.
He still stares. And you still smile.
another HoH bakugo headcanon with a twist.

kirishima becomes so used to flicking the light switch on and off when entering a room because of bakugo that he just…always does it now.
he’ll go into kaminari or sero’s room and just subconsciously flip the switch.
none of their friends want to comment on it because they honestly find it quite endearing because it shows that he cares for bakugo’s comfort since he does it not to startle him. plus, it shows just how much time he spends going to bakugo’s room that it just is second nature at this point.
the rest of the class is just waiting for someone else to comment but they all find it really sweet so they don’t say anything for ages.
…until kirishima accidentally does it coming into class one morning.
Took a short break from commissions to finally finish up this hard of hearing Bakugo au piece

A drawing with three panels. On the left is a tall panel, a man is facing away from the viewer, visible from just below his knees and up. He has spiky blond hair, a black button up shirt, baggy blue jeans, and an orange hearing aid. One hand is on his hip, his arm being cut out of the picture by the side of the panel, and his other hand is holding a leash. Connected to the leash is a golden retriever, looking up at the man with its tongue sticking out. The background of this panel is blue. The right upper panel is a small rectangle with a blue background. Overlapping this panel is a close up of the person’s face, he has reddish-brown eyes and appears to be talking. The lower right panel is a drawing of the golden retriever sitting down. It is wearing a red vest that has a circular patch with a drawing of a dog with one ear up, signally that this is a hearing dog.

Going home to go to visit the ophthalmologist wasn't exactly a happy occasion, but Izuku was thrilled to visit his mom nonetheless. Ever since UA had built the dorms in his first year, Izuku had lived on campus, making trips home few and far between. The move had made a lot of sense, since he no longer had to use the train to commute to school, a big time saver. His mom had been worried about sending him away at first, but after visiting a few times and seeing how well he had adjusted, it wasn't as stressful for her. Izuku was relieved, his mom had always been a bit of a worrywart, her nervous tendencies increasing as his vision worsened. He wanted more than anything to prove to her that he could take care of himself, that she didn't need to worry about him.
