Deaf!Merlin and radios

Its 7:48 am and I'm going into school with the mental imagine of deaf!merlin and like imagine they had radios and stuff in that time, right?

Let's say sign language doesnt exist yet, that's an important part.

So merlin frequently attempts to lip read, or they write to eachother a lot.

So he dances for merlin every so often, like on dates and stuff and everyone thinks he looks really cool, and Merlins grinning at him like an idiot,

But not for that reason.

But one day onion boy comes on and Arthur does a little choreography of it for him and everyine watches and claps because hes the king but later on he sees merlins DIARY and cant help but read and theres one line in the whole book that earns his boyfriend a slap over the head;

'He dances for me sometimes, but he does a movement that looks a little like hes ducking dick??? He looks like an idiot doing it anyway but I didnt think he was that out in the open!'

And Arthur now realising and literally crying "I was trying to be helpful!" And all merlin thought he was actually doing was trying to be funny because merlin mostly has bad days and the boy cant let go of it, so much so "onion sucker" becomes a frequent nickname that hes even able to pronounce after a while.

So much that when Arthur dies, the first thing he sees is his family, everyone he misses, everybody he loves.

But as they start to welcome him, somethings off, king arthur pendragon comes stumbling to his knees,

His father chuckles,

"Come here, onion boy. We'll keep him safe"

I want a fanfic where Merlin signs that Gwaine is handsome so he asks Arthur what Merlin signed because that's what Merlin signed to him. Arthur just makes a face and signs to Merlin across the room that no, Gwaine is not in fact handsome, which Merlin rebukes. Arthur signs that HE is handsome, which Merlin refuses before looking at Gwaine and signs 'handsome' again with a smirk and walks away. Gwaine's sign name ends up being the first letter of his name, 'G' then the sign for 'smile'.

Pleeeeeaase oh please oh please consider deaf!Eggsy and deaf!Merlin. Eggsy is still a badass spy, and Merlin is of course an expert tinker, because—contrary to what hearing people have a tendency to think—being deaf isn't a disability, it's just a different way of experiencing the world. Eggsy can read lips like a pro, which comes in handy as a spy. He does have cochlear implants—uses his signature hat to hide them—but he likes to take them out when he can. He was pretty much raised as Hearing bc his family is Hearing and he doesn't know many other Deaf folk, but he likes to embrace Deaf Culture. Deaf Merlin getting so engaged in working on his gadgets and things that he doesn't notice people waving to get his attention and they've gotta go over and tap him. Merlin's a CODA so he was raised in the Deaf Community, and working with all Hearing people can be frustrating. They meet through Kingsman and it's SO NICE to have someone to relate to in a place where everyone else is Hearing. Eggsy takes out his implants to sign with Merlin at top speed, and it's great to finally have someone to talk to comfortably. Merlin talks to Eggsy about Deaf Culture and teaches him, and Harry (who's been learning sign language for Merlin bc they're bros) tries to keep up, but, well, if you aren't fluent yet and you're watching two fluent signers it's nearly impossible.
