Adventures at the university library ...
Over the summer my university library had a monster renovation. Yes, it is now late autumn and I am reporting this almost three months late. This is because being the sterling uni kid I am, I borrowed my first books for 2011 on Thursday. I've been to the library, but I really scoped the place out while searching for books to aid my assignment-ing (learning is balls!). The library is the coolest! It has a "neon" light sign (sexy! And I say "neon" because the element Ne only creates orange-red tones, yeah, I retained certain information from year 10 chemistry ... I'm a moron) and various other cool things. The best part, however, is THIS:
A WALL OF BOOKS! BOOKS! This book-wall is in the spirit/style of a tunnel to the upper library level. My jaw hit the floor when I saw it, what a brilliant idea. This is exactly the kind of thing that you will see somewhere on the internet, with no source or credit, that leads you to believe shit like it doesn't really exist. But it does at the Deakin Uni Waurn Ponds campus! Oh, and for lovers of literature like me who think "what a waste of books!", most of them have had the pages removed and wooden blocks put inside the covers. I can only hope that the pages were read, recycled or used to make awesome paper-maché animals.
I also borrowed out a book on enchantments. Because I'm undertaking a degree in Witchcraft, like all Harry Potter style. Have I ever mentioned that? Yeah, I'm doing that or literature, or something. Either way, I'm writing an essay on fairy tales and Cinderella this weekend. Magical!
