Jerk (2008)
This is kind of cute; they're like feral children.
It's really frustrating that he doesn't elaborate on what he means by protective, as to David Brooks' demeanor and why he would feel that way about him. But I think he could also mean GUILTY and not protective because he got him raped and tortured, but y'know, semantics
I'm currently researching Dean Corll as there's little known about him, which makes him so mysterious compared to other serial killers...! Anyway, I just read "The Candy Cards" by Robert Brown, short but good book about Corll. A girlfriend named Betty is mentioned at the time he was working at the Candy Factory with his family, they were even engaged at some point. She suspected he was homosexual but accepted it and thought they still had a good situation (nice apartment, good work and he was nice to her) and sex wasn't everything after all. She eventually left him after a few year though. And that's it, no other girlfriend was ever mentioned. BUT by looking at old newspapers I found out that he was supposedly engaged to a woman at the time of his death! Detectives found a calendar in his home with the date "August 31" circled. Dean's parents told them he and his fiancee were going to get married at this date. Her name is Betty and she has two sons from a previous marriage. In the article above she mentioned boys being always around, I wonder if she's talking about Wayne and David even though I don't remember them mentioning a woman hanging out at the house and given Dean's supposed reaction toward Wayne bringing a girl the night before his death, it seems weird! (telling him something like "you know how I feel about women, don't ever bring a woman here").
I got a little confused as Dean's ex-girlfriend was also named Betty but she had no kids and the timeline doesn't fit for them to be the same person ! Here's the little timeline I made of their relationship :
Early 1962 - Betty asked Dean to marry her. He refused and move back to Houston.
March 1962 - Betty agreed to move to Houston to start back their relationship.
June 1965 - Back from the Army and move with Betty in Yorktown street.
April 1967 - Break up.
According to the timeline he started “dating” the second Betty in 1968, so a year after his break-up.

NAME: Donald Wayne Waldrop
BORN: 08/15/55 Georgia 🇺🇸
DIED: 01/31/71 (Age 15) Houston, Texas 🇺🇸
FATE: Donald was kidnapped, along with his little brother Jerry, on January 30th, 1971 by serial killer Dean Arnold Corll and his accomplice David Owen Brooks. Both boys were subsequently raped, tortured, and strangled to death before being buried together in Corll’s boat shed. Their bodies were recovered in 1973 after Corll was shot and killed by his other other accomplice, Elmer Wayne Henley Jr.
RIP DONALD 🕯
David Owen Brooks, the mysterious serial killer that was ignored by police to get the gruesome case over as fast as possible. The big case of Dean Corll, a serial killer and pedophile rapist, getting killed by former ‘business’ partner and serial killer Elmer Wayne Henley.
It was Brooks that lead Henley to Corll. But we don’t know much more about him or how he knew Corll himself. Brooks met Corll when he was 12 years old and helped him to get his young victims in the early days.
Brooks became friends with Henley and brought him to Corll, not as a victim but as a business partner. Both boys lured 29 local young men and boys to the hands of Corll for money between 1970 and 1973.
Henley shot Corll, after Corll tried to kill him. Both Henley and Brooks are in prison for life. Brooks has been denied parole.
